I can't see why TM is a scam either.

Some providers prefer TM, some do not. Some prefer email, some phone calls. It all depends on the provider. Initial contact is best done with whatever they prefer.

Most established providers do not have the time to play chit chat text.....The truth is most providers have the ability to check email from their cell phone so avoid using text as it is outdated and the messages are somewhat basic and elementary (*think of a cave man making stone etchings LOL*)  also, most providers that I have known do not welcome text paging from clients until you get to be a regular. Even then, it is usually not preferred. It takes too much time and is too much work.

I've heard it is a scam. Once they get your number they text you a buttload of messages which costs you $ per message.(*Like when you vote of American Idol over the phone, or text your choice on some reality show*) I'm not sure if it's true or not but, better safe than sorry.

There are many, many legitimate providers who insist on text messages until they get to know you. I really do not understand where there is a scam, they send you a 'buttload' of messages that cost you a 'buttload' of dollars? Most phone packages now include free text messages and if you have an old outdated one what is it? 10 cents per text? gimme a break! Besides, there is no scam, the phone company would get your lousy dime, not the provider.

BTW: Great lesson for all Newbies - be very leary of those who come offering advice under an alias. It is much like an alias showing up on your Regional Board requesting info. on local providers, never forget you do not know who the hell you are talking to. If they are legit, then why hide behind an alias? Beware!

I just realized a few weeks ago that I had saved a "Come up to my room now" TM in the cell phone, from an appointment about 9 months ago. Hopefully the SO did not turn on the cell phone to find it.

Guess that is one of the 10,000 reasons I do not have a SO.  LMAO!

I really dont know a gal out there that really does listen to her vm.. and with txt msging you don't have to have a long conversation and waste each others time... sounds like a newbie that really is confused...

...Involving text messaging women. If you text them you are charged. This is a scam and is not connected to any legitimate agency or reviewed provider. What more would you expect on CL?

I never knew that was going on. But I'm not surprised at all. CL had some unsavory characters.

What nonsense.  I know providers on both sides of the Atlantic with blackberry like phones who TM 'cause they dont have the time to take, screen and return the multitude of inquisitive calls and emails during a busy day.  To them a well tuned TM system is a godsend in quick & to the point communications.

A TM can be sent from a phone to either a computer address or a phone number - If the message to you get from any source is 15 words or less there is a good chance it originated as a TM from a Blackberry or Phone.

Here in Europe, texting is now engrained in the culture, and is a common way to communicate with providers.

Food for thought:
Sure a lot of providers have Blackberrys or other devices that can receive and send email, I don’t.

Some of us work for large companies that closely monitor computer traffic.  I would never be stupid enough to use my play e-mail address to confirm an after work appointment on my work PC.  Also there have been a couple of times that my only internet contact with her has been through PM on sites like TER.  Needless to say, I can’t check this while at work.

Some of us commute on public transportation.  It is a lot more discrete for me to send a text asking for the room or apartment number, than to call the provider from the train.

If a provider text's you... they have to pay for the airtime also... what would be the point?
Don't buy this at all... unfounded

I don't like text messaging back and forth because it costs me money ESPECIALLY if you're using a pre-paid phone service (like myself).
