The numbers are based on shoddy science, if not basically made up.  But it fits in with the same mind-set we see when practically every story we see on prostitution arrests talk about trafficking even when, as is usually the case, no one is arrested for that.

...I've read some very convincing articles debunking myths regarding the Super Bowl and sex trafficking that purportedly accompanies it (debunked) and the myth of the average age of entry into prostitution (soundly debunked),  but this is the strongest evidence I've seen yet published by MSM which debunks the myth of how many are actually being or at risk for being sex trafficked. It's not fair to taxpayers to pay for programs that haven't met basic scientific statistical metric standards for establishing that a perceived problem is significant enough to spend vast amounts of money on with dubious likelihood of any resolution of the problem. The lives and well being of innocent, peace loving folks are at stake here but the government doesn't seem to care.

Who benefits from false claims of trafficking ... police budgets, politicians, and caught providers who can use it to avoid sentencing.  In fact I believe illegals caught as "trafficking victims" automatically get visa status.  If the gal was smart, she probably phoned in the tip for the bust
