A big drug company is doing some heavy profiteering right now on its ED medication. My local big-box pharmacy has a web site where you can check prices. Last week, the price for ten 100 mg. tabs of the brand-name blue pill was over five hundred dollars. Fifty bucks per 100 mg. That's two and a half times the price a couple years ago, though I doubt it's gotten more expensive to manufacture. And their coupons are not available to guys who are eligible for medicare, so what's an old fart to do?
Well, if you go to that web site and enter "sildenafil" something different pops up. Thirty tabs of 20 mg. sildenafil citrate are priced at $37. That's $6.16 for 100 mg. When I went to my big-box pharmacy here in town (starts with a C) to fill a prescription I asked if I couldn't go generic. It took a phone call to my doctor but now I have a bottle of 20 mg. pills. They work just fine. Big difference besides price? I don't have to cut the 100 mg. pill into pieces.
From news reports I didn't think "legitimate" generic was going to be available until 2017. I haven't seen this mentioned on the board before now. If it is old news, my apologies.

Got a perscription for 60 20 mg and brought it to Sam's club
With their plus membership it will cost you $20 with regular membership $120.
My urologist said same deal at Costco
He wrote it for 11 refills
I need at least 100 mg and that would be twelve dates a month- more than I can afford
Note that that price is not with any insurance so you can pay cash and not have it show up anywhere.

But am planning on asking my doctor on my next visit. Based on your report, I am optimistic I can get something for a lot less than I have paid in the past.
In response to the OP, that big company is gonna keep on profiteering for several years to come.

True but there's been the issue of finding a site where you can get the real thing vs some useless fakes. Once we finally can get the real thing in a generic form, it will simplify matters.
The 20mg sildenafil is a generic of another drug called Revatio. It is used for a serious disease called pulmonary arterial hypertension. It is the same ingredient found in Viagra and is also made by Pfizer.
Not sure why Revatio is available as a generic while Viagra is not
