I have been on the Rio tour with a couple of friends around 2005 time frame. I thought I was in heaven, we hit 6 or 7 different termas and also went to club help. If you go make sure you get a tour guide that will take you to these places. We rented an apt. close to the beach in a good area then took cabs everywhere with our guide. Rio is not the best place to venture out at night by yourself. At that time the termas were awesome, great talent and good ratios. Sounds like things have changed. There is a 20 page guide to Rio termas on-line somewhere that outlines all of the ins and outs but not sure how to find it anymore. It was worth the trip then but sounds like Germany might the the place to go now. Will have to plan a trip out there soon.
Try the termas if in Rio, best or most expensive is Centaurus, other termas include 4x4 and 65 in downtown Rio, Luomo and monte Carlo in Copacabana. And Solarium by the lagoon

Golden age for Rio was 2000 to 2005 as Rio is expensive now and talent has drained out for some reason
