My thoughts on the subject are this, I think that some of the women, do not want to plaster their real image all over the internet, and probably see them selves as closely resembling the images that are posted, and figure that once a client meets them face to face, he will be more than happy with the real person.  

Then there are those providers, who use the false images, to lure the client in, and they figure that the guy has invested some much time in setting up, and then traveling to the provider, and he is so horny, that he will say screw it, and make a go of it with the provider, even thou she is far from a resemblance to the pictures, and as you the OP have stated, it is a tried and true method. The providers who do this. clearly lack ethics, or a sense of good business practice, and generally do not care about reputation, as they are out for the instant reward $$

Then there are those who fall in between the two examples listed, in a gray area so to speak, as they have their reasons, or motivations as to why they are behaving as they do, and do not see any great harm in doing so ?

I don't understand it.  Like I am not going to notice that a woman is much older than her pics depict?  Or that she is much heavier or perhaps a different race? (Yes, I've had that happen to me.)  Or covered in tats.  None of these are bad things, but why the deception?  I understand, as another posted, that women don't want their real pics online, but how about a body shot (with face blurred)? Or at least a pic that is close.
