I love a good FBSM every once in awhile. My experience sans Viagra is much like you describe. But I need the complete woody (as you say) to enjoy intercourse. And I don't get hard enough to do that without Viagra. Easy to get pleasured and ejaculate with a nice oral or hand finish if I don't take the blue pill.
