It's good to remember how many scams are out there

A hobby phone & hobby email...  and hobby name...   are really good investment.

I would not tell your wife at this point.  Save all communications.  If they really do attempt to contact (extort) than youshould get legal representation & take steps to go to LE.  I'd not trust to go to LE without representation.

Was on a cam website. The model told me she was a flight attendant and was going to be in the town I said I was traveling to.  There were plenty of red flags looking back(she asked where I was going first then she was coincidentally going to be there too).  We made plans to meet via email.  Then, the day before she emails me saying her live in boyfriend found her email open and our plans.  He wants money to move out or he is going to tell my wife, family, etc.  I told her I didn't have the money(she only wants $200) because I know this has got to be bullshit. Here's the kicker, I can tell my wife whats happened and she will be pissed but it won't be a big deal.  There isn't any legal action this person can take against me, is there?  Do you guys think this is bullshit blackmail?  Any help is appreciated.

Of course it is blackmail.  To top it off, if you pay a blackmailer, they will then try to extort even more money from you.  Guaranteed.   Do you really think that someone is going to take your $200 and use that money to move?  Where to?  A cardboard box?  Their story isn't even believable.

Best possible advice is to completely ignore these blackmailers.  Cut off all contact, period.  Don't ever answer them, no matter what.  They will harass you for a while, but as long as you never answer them no matter what, eventually go away and move on to their next mark because you aren't answering, you aren't paying, and they will eventually give up.  If they contact your wife, you said you can handle it already, so there you are.

Play safer next time, seriously.  Don't ever give out real personal info to anyone, use a throw away email address, use a throw away phone number, no info you give out should be real, everything in a cam session is easily recorded, so don't ever show your face, etc.   That basically renders a cam site to be completely useless, for all practical purposes though, don't you think? I think so.

Cam websites are completely full of scams like this.  I really think 99% of this is some kind of extortion scam anyway.   Some cam websites have disclaimers all over the place to warn you about that.  Best to never use them again.  In the future, stick to porn and/or real hookers instead.  That's my advice to you, moving forward.  Cam sites are a blackmailer's paradise.

Thanks for the advice.  I needed to buy a little time because I want to get home to tell my wife face to face. I made one careless mistake and they used that info to find everything.  I'm a dumbass.  Thanks

I think it is 90% certain that these criminals won't carry through.

One reason is that you could make life rough for them if you go to LE.  Blackmail is a serious felony and they could face 10 years on the slammer.

They will simply shrug and move on to the next mark.

But, the decision is, of course, yours.

Absolutely don't tell your wife-Mr. Fisher is exactly right-----if you all ready have told her-you have set yourself up for a butt load of anguish that she will never let you forget...........Reassure me that you are going to keep this to yourself ????????

"Dear Cunt and Douche bag co conspirator, I do not deal with would be, amateurish blackmailers. I have forwarded all the details of your scheme to my attorney. Proceed at your own risk. Please don't bother to respond, as I will no longer be communicating with you directly. Any further responses from me will be from either my attorney, or from the appropriate law enforcement agency. Have a blessed day"

You might want to skip the "have a blessed day" part and simply say "Now eat shit and die" but that's your choice.

Ha...thats pretty good.  I actually penned a similar response.  They back pedaled pretty fucking fast...said it was a misunderstanding....lol.  Thanks for the help everyone.
