City Girls Question...

To those of you who have used city girls.

How easy is parking when they have a "downtown" location?     Just curious because I am from out of the metro area.

PM's are more than welcomed on this subject.

find the hotel and start circling the streets till you see city parking...park, pay and walk there....have a great time....walk back to your car and now your a city pro!

Is there ample public ramp parking some what close to the majority of the hotels?

Like I said,  I am an idiot when it comes to downtown area of Minneapolis.

Thanks for the answer trainthetrainer.

This is exactly what I do.  After I get the location I head to downtown.  Locate hotel. circle looking for a meter and park.  If I'm early, I'll grab a drink nearby while I wait.  Most of my trips downtown to hobby are in the evenings so meters are pretty easy to find.  During the day, M-F will be more difficult.

You can pick up a card called a go-to card at almost any Cub grocery store, and it will get you on any Metro Transit bus.  Just put $10 on it, and you'll get $11 worth of bus fare.  Fare is $1.75 for regular hours and $2.25 for rush hour.  Just park at one of the Metro Transit park & ride locations, and take the bus downtown.  It's a hell of a lot easier than circling for a parking meter, and a hell of a lot cheaper than paying $25/hr for a parking ramp.

There are a lot of hotels downtown. Many have their own parking ramps. The ones that don't generally have a ramp within a block because, obviously, their guests need some place to park their cars.

But the previous answers are correct. Far and away the cheapest parking is on-street at a meter, and there is a lot of meter parking as of the last few years. So find your hotel, then circle a few blocks to see if you can find an open meter. Generally it's $2 per hour and you can use a credit card if you aren't worried about the charge appearing on your bill. You can pay for up to two hours - if your session is longer you'll have to find a ramp. Word is they are working on a mobile app to let you pay for additional time without returning to a kiosk but so far as I know it's not here yet.

Do keep your receipt. I have twice received a ticket even though I was paid up. But an email to the court with copies of the ticket and receipt took care of it.

I have the app and have used it a couple times.  Pretty slick.

and let me preface by saying thank you for providing the link for all of us.  Very valuable.

Someone like you...why don't you post more on the board?  Bunch of reviews.  Possibly a person that could contribute.  The mood on the board lately is there isn't enough participation.  How could we board mouths bring in some new voices and opinions like yours?

Honest, sincere question.  I hope you respond to let us all know how to bring in a wider base of legitimate voices.

I participate when I have something to add, someone asks a question that hasn't been answered or I can add to.  I respond to PM's when I receive them.  I have no idea how you get more to participate.  I come here for research and entertainment, mostly entertainment lately as I haven't been participating in the hobby much lately.
