depending upon the lady and her plans, she may or may not be able to provide you with a reference for a little while.  Circumstances change - I currently see two ladies every once in a while that have "retired" and are UTR - they of course are not in the position to give references.  They did however, provide a reference for me for around a month after they "retired".
The best thing you can do is get listed with a service such as Date Check, RS2K, etc... a one time fee and you are set for life - very much worth the $$$ spent and information you need to give is nothing more than you would have to for screening with most ladies.

Has anyone ever had a steady provider, or reference get out of the business? Would a lady still be a reference for you, if she quit, and would another provider accept that reference? The problem I'm having is that I really only want to see one provider, regularly, because I believe it would enhance the quality of our time together, and...well, frankly I just can't afford to see more than one provider regularly, but would it be wiser to build rapport with multiple providers? If my provider gets out of the business, I'm fine with that, but then will I be back at square one with no references?

I have had a provider whom I saw quite oftern get out of the business, and she was willing to be a reference for a little while. Then her personal circumstances dictated that she no longer wished to be contacted, so I lost her as a reference. However, I dont think you should see multiple providers for the sole purpose of building up a group of providers to have as references. If you want to see one provider, then see one provider. If you are just seeing her, then you dont need a reference anyway. If she gets out of the business and you are then left with no providers to use as references, you will have to find other ways to verify yourself with a new provider (i.e. employment verification, being a TER memember, etc.) Where there is a will, there is a way!! Good luck!

One of my references was recently pronounced dead on these very boards.  Clearly, she's no longer going to vouch for me.  I don't mean to be cold, but things do happen.  The keys to screenability (if that's a word) is to let people know about you and feel safe with you.  I've been invited to providers home, and given their real names with great frequency.  I'm not sure exactly how that happened, since it wasn't a concerted effort, but good guys really can prosper at times just by not being like the last asshole guy she saw.

Well, all you would really need is for your current lady to vouch for you once. If she is willing she could provide a reference for you after she or just before she retires. Then the next lady you see will be your new reference.

Or maybe Date-Check or a similar service is the way to go.

I'm leaving the business behind, I'm in Tampa and moving back to TX at the end of May.  A gentleman asked me about this very subject and I told him that before I leave, I'll let another established provider that I know vouch for him when I'm gone.
