Leaving the cell and keys on top of the 'envelope' sends a message of distrust. She might take it to mean that you don't want her to look in the envelope until you leave.
You can read all kind of things into these actions.
If, when you got inside, showed your ID, she will be much more relaxed, but the cell and keys give a different message.

That is usually the way. But you should check her website just in case.

If you don't donate first there won't be any "after".

I walk in, place the envelope down on the table with my cell phone on top along with my keys.  When I leave, I pick up the phone and keys and go out the door.

Why leave the cell and keys, i can think of some reasons, but just curious, and thanx to everybody for responding...

Always as soon as you walk in as a prelude to activity. I get a kick out of reviewers who say "she never asked about the donation".  Trust me, even if she didn't ask, she was thinking about it. Would you expect her full attention during the session if, in the front of her mind, she is wondering if you are going to pay her?

I leave it in a conspicuous (sp) place, usually a table or counter, as soon as I see a good spot for it. And don't make a big deal out of it. I have only had 1 provider ask about it, and she just asked if the 'gift', as it said on the plain evelope, was for her.  And that was at the end of the session.  None of the ladies I have been with so far, 5 different ones, has ever asked for it directly or even touched it in my presence.
Although I have read many reviews stating that the lady counted the $$$ before anything happened.  Guess so far I have chosen well.
