Hi,
I am newbie. I have never visited any escort in my life. Now thinking of new adventures. But before that I want to make sure that I will stay out of trouble. I read in news papers about sting operations. Wondering what happens if you are unlucky and get caught.

1. Do the police inform this incident to your employer?

2. Is there any way employer will find out about this? I read that generally first time offenders will be let go with misdemeanor. Assuming you are charged with misdemeanor not felony, do the employers care for such things?

3. Are there instances where you get fired or don't get hired for misdemeanors? Misdemeanors can be anything starting from speeding right? Do employers differentiate one misdemeanor versus other?

4. Is this misdemeanor will be in your record for ever? I heard that most of these sting operations are only for police to satisfy their quotas. But after arrests they usually don't go to trail and if you never take a plea deal, your case might be thrown out or they will give you some such deal, is this true?

5. For sting operation, they need to set-up the place to record the evidence right? So if do an out-call in a decent hotel, I can never be in trouble right? Has it ever happen that cops busted in out-call?

6. Prostitution is legal in Canada it seems. I live in New England, not far from Canada. So if I visit there and see an escort am I totally safe from LE perspective?

Thanks for your answers to my questions.

1. Depends on what local police do. If they out on the web or in the news they do it indirectly

2. Google searches. They can find out. They can also look up court records.

3. Yes happens all the time with folks who require clearances in the finicial services industry and government/government contractors depending on clearance level.

4. You get your record cleared. Each state has different rules in terms of probation.

5. Not sure about outcall. But you are generally safer with outcall.

6. Check the Canadian laws.

Bottom line get intel. If you hobby in a particular go back at least 5-10 years and read the articles about prostitution. You can learn a lot things, when the stings happen etc.

Using a site such as TER to see reviewed providers will cut down on your chances on getting busted.

Also remember that the number rule is to stfu (shut the fuck up). Never discuss money or prices with a provider. There have been guys who have been let go because they said nothing when they got busted. They asked for a lawyer.

...very low end, middle of the road, and high end hotels.  Do not be fooled into believeing that just because one is going to the Four Season's, the Ritz, etc, that you are safe.  LE does not discriminate.

As for losing your job, that depends on your contract.  Most contracts, apartment leases, etc, have morality clauses written into them.

Hugs and Kisses,
Kelly

There are some postings in the DC board about that. That happened a few years ago. I remember several cases one where different  guy(s) with references got flipped in DC and ended getting some of the ladies he saw busted in a outcall sting. One of the guys was high profile. They also have done reverse stings in those hotels going after guys (DC does this at least once a year).

Use a program like CC cleaner to scrub your computer.  Canadian border patrol is strongly anti-sex tourism & will look through your devises.  Do not have anything on them.  Once Denied Entry, you'll be on their radar forever.  Clean the computer before your return too.   The internet works fine in Canada so you can find the info once there.

Oh, yes, scrape all your NRA stickers off & be sure there's no lost shell in your vehicle.  Canadian Border patrol thinks all Yanks are gun nuts & their laws are quite a bit stricter than most US..

Any possibility of some details? Most of us think that Canada allows the hobby, it would help to know about the exceptions. I wonder how travel to the state of Nevada is regulated, for that matter, since some mat be doing it expressly for the hobby.

PS Thank you for the details you posted just now. Yes, I've read the Dominion is getting careful about whom they let in.

Am not sure why the issue.  Prostitution is legal in Canada (outcall always has been).  I had lots of sexwork stuff on my computer, the Canadian sites I am active on and in fact the Court info for the guy we helped Scottsdale PD get after almost killing about 12 escorts and worked with LE to have escorts come forward - he was convicted and sentenced to over 100 years in prison.  Since was involved had all that info on my computer.

Was stopped in Victoria B.C. airport somehow thinking my name matched someone from Florida - obviously wrong person but they looked at everything on my computer and they were intrigued by all the Canadian sexwork material and the court case I had with me (he was sentenced when I was in Canada and wanting case info with me to follow up on).

I basically taught them their Canadian criminal code - one guy looked it up- usually I had it with me on the computer but didn't on this laptop.   Two of the younger agents got really interested having no idea there were forums where guys talked to gal escorts etc.

Was delayed about 2 hours but other than that no problem once I showed them all was legal in Canada related to what was on my computer.

Shortly afterward I got approved for CanPass to bypass immigration in Canada as pre-approved for entry.  That reminds me I need to renew as starting to go to Canada again for their great options without the legal issues.

Mine included a sex bag with toys and lubes.  lol.

Actually the sex stuff is not why I was questioned.  Initially the questioning was about a dismissed and expunged charge (NOT escort related) that they pulled up info on while investigating me (this is how I discovered that LE can access expunged info).  Even though the case was dismissed and expunged they wanted to know details about the charge before letting me in.  Then they searched my car and found a canister of pepper spray (a 3" key chain canister) which they apparently considered a weapon that I was trying to "sneak" in (I was driving and honestly never thought to include it when they asked me if I had any weapons).  Then they found my sex bag, which of course, made things even more....awkward.  After MANY hours of questioning, they let me in but gave me a "Warning from the Crown" for the pepper spray.  The warning means I am now on a special watch list.  Yay me.

Crossing back into the US was even worse.  The American border patrol guards immediately pulled me aside and isolated me and were quite intimidating with their questioning.  It was not a fun experience.

If you enter by car and air Nexus covers both.  I just applied for Nexus - Years ago when I had canpass I think you had to be a more frequent visitor to Canada/US for Nexus like for a job etc.  But I don't see any such requirements now. Years ago I was turned down for Nexus but easily got CanPass.

The problem for either is you have to set up an appointment to have an interview, eyes pictured etc so you can't just get approved.  It takes up to 4-6 weeks to process and have to set up an appointment for interview within 30 days of conditional approval - but can be set for a date beyond the 30 days.

My timing for Toronto trip is about right but since I'll be arriving about 1AM, have to go back to the airport while there to do the interview so will be easier on future trips.

Sex toys, sexy movies and "weapons" are a major issue from what I have read.

I have a client I see in Toronto so when asked purpose I say business meeting and vacation.  They usually ask where you will be staying etc.  Canpass/Nexus avoids all that.  This type of meeting does not require a work permit.

I often am asked by escorts about working in Canada with out the legal risks.  No- need work permit and be sponsored by employer.   They use to bring in foreign strippers to the Montreal clubs showing a need since could not get enough Canadians.  But that caused an uproar and stopped giving work permits for strippers.

If you are a Canadian driving into Canada, they harass you even more.  In that case, they operate it as a "revenue" checkpoint and they don't like to leave any stones unturned.  They want EVERYTHING declared so that they can collect every last penny of tax that is due.  That is because Canadians often times go to the USA to do their shopping, because sales tax isn't 15% in the USA, and aside from that, often the same goods are a lot cheaper in the USA.   Electronics in particular are way cheaper in the USA than in Canada.  Americans going to Canada don't have that particular problem with declaring things, because they are assumed to be just guests, which means they aren't assumed to be going back and forth to evade Canadian taxes.

I tried passing through with a friend about 3 years ago and they held us for about 2 hours while they ransacked the car, for what I don't know.  I declared a couple of hundred dollars worth of clothing we bought anyways.

Made for a pretty grim reentry.

I don't plan to go to Canada anymore on account of that.

We used to day trip across the border...  also boat in a common waterway which I'm told has been severely restricted now...   We used to cross with just driver's licenses.  Think those days are long gone.
I'm told Canadian Authorities can do a check of US records & minor US violations will get you extra scrutiny or even denial to enter.  Having your devises examined can be really bad if personal photos are deemed porn or other such BS.

1. Do the police inform this incident to your employer?

no they don't tell your employer but your employer could find out if they post your pic and name in the paper.  sometimes they do that.

2. Is there any way employer will find out about this? I read that generally first time offenders will be let go with misdemeanor. Assuming you are charged with misdemeanor not felony, do the employers care for such things?

not sure what state you are in but in california solicitation/prostitution are charged as a misdemeanor whether it is your first second or third offense.  in california whether you are the provider or the john part of your sentencing will be to submit an hiv test.  if your results come out positive your charge will be changed from a misdemeanor to a felony.

3. Are there instances where you get fired or don't get hired for misdemeanors? Misdemeanors can be anything starting from speeding right? Do employers differentiate one misdemeanor versus other?

YES.  it depends on where you work.  for example, i work in a law firm and when hired they do a background check and look for misdemeanors and felonys and having a misdemeanor for solicitation on your record is not going to fly at any law firm but there are some other industries where they may not care about a solicitation on  your record.

4. Is this misdemeanor will be in your record for ever? I heard that most of these sting operations are only for police to satisfy their quotas. But after arrests they usually don't go to trail and if you never take a plea deal, your case might be thrown out or they will give you some such deal, is this true?

in california as misdemeanor is on your record until you have it expunged and you cannot have it expunged until you fulfill all the requirements of your sentence (community service, fines, etc.) and once you are off probation you can file the papers to have it expunged.  all they do is change your plea from guilty to dismissed per expungement.  law enforcement on the otherhand will always be able to see it but other people like employers cannot.

5. For sting operation, they need to set-up the place to record the evidence right? So if do an out-call in a decent hotel, I can never be in trouble right? Has it ever happen that cops busted in out-call?

WRONG.  THEY DO STINGS INCALL AND OUTCALL.  i know girls who have been busted at their incall and at hotels (outcall).  no they do not have to record it or video tape it.  when it happened to me there was no recording or video.  it is just their word against yours.

While private prostitution is legal in Canada, Pimping & Brothels are not.  Brothels seem to get winked at some but then there are crackdowns.
