Just my thoughts- if you use preferred411, I believe they will go through several different avenues to try and verify that you are who you say you are. I’d recommend you try them.

I'm a total newb. Never done this before but looking to get into the hobby. Done a lot of research and looking into everything, but I have one question regarding references that I don't see covered anywhere. Its a slightly unique situation.
Since I'm new I obviously have no references. I'm ok with signing up with datecheck or one of those services, but they all require a work number for validation. Or some of the girls will take that info themselves. Now I'm ok giving this, but this is where the issue is. I don't have a regular job at a company with a receptionist or anything like that. I basically work in a cube farm (programming) and my work phone goes to me. There is no main phone for someone to call and get me, there are only direct lines to specific employees. So what are people's thoughts? Is this still going to work? Or am I just screwed? Thank for any info.

If so, talk to the brass there and tell them you need a number of someone who can confirm your employment for a bank loan, or similar ruse.
Be sure that the verifier knows what the ruse is.
There're more than just we hobbyists who need to be verified, after all.
