All the caution in the World would not have stopped that bust.. and yes it's very important to be careful.. but also it's important to not create ideas about things that never happened.. yes there is pressure on the hobby.. and always has been.. and for the foreseeable future there will be.. so screening on both sides is very critical.. but will not eliminate the exposure..

I know that this topic has come up before and is probably been on the Newbie Board, General Board, etc. But with that said, with the heat being on lately, I wanted to ask if people have thoughts on best practices when you are actually meeting face to face with the provider for the first time. I understand that this site can be a very useful tool for screening, BUT, with the extra attention lately comes the need for additional caution. I sometimes read hobbyists saying that they did an "LE check". Which sounds like they mean fondling the provider or something? I don't know but it doesn't sound effective. Is placing the donation on a table effective without handing it to the provider... that sort of thing? I guess I feel a little paranoid when the AG lumps in seeing an independednt 40 year old escort from Boston with "sex trafficking".

The AG busted an agency owner.. not an independant.. the owner also worked.  LE checks had nothing to do with it...

The bust brought to the forefront a renewed effort to kill the hobby and go after hobbyists online, in hotels, etc. I don't think I'm being too out there in thinking that erring on the side of caution now makes a lot of sense.

Don't waste your time.  LE will bust you anyway and then lie about it.  The key is to not get to the point where you're in the same room with LE to begin with, because by then it's too late.  If you're worried about it, screen well (easy to do) and stick to well-reviewed indies because LE generally concentrates on agencies.  More bang for the buck.

Not arguing with the OP but have you seen the article on page 5 of today's Globe?

Look for "man robbed, stabbed at meeting at Auburn Mall". I will go out on a limb and guess at what that meeting (online appointment) was about..."he panicked and decided to drive home despite his injuries".

Another reminder to do our homework...

Hobby safely!

Yes you have to worry about a lot more than LE.  You can be robbed even killed when things go bad.

This case is something an experienced hobbyist would avoid.  Always screen thru reviews, P411...etc.  This gentleman apparently had no clue.  Meeting at the mall?  What was he thinking?

I only meet with well reviewed girls, or someone referred by someone I know well.  I also use P411

TOFFT is a whole different situation...something I used to do back in the Craigslist days.  I would speak with the girl over the phone and ask a number of questions before booking.  After a few minutes on the phone I either get a good  or bad gut feeling.

But my risk taking days are over.  Stick with who you know, as the saying goes.  TER reviews and P411 are all I need to feel safe.

The Trafficking law in Mass made it very dangerous for acencies...that is why you see less and less of them, and more and more Indi's

That's my $0.02

Everyone is all paranoid about this when really its no biggie..From the hobbist side you cant go on backpage make a call and walk in.Your chances of getting robbed, busted or just a shitty date are high.

Provider side they cant just get dudes name and say come on over. This bust had nothing to do with any of the above. They made a sting, phones tapped, surveillance, etc. It's not a problem until it's a problem. Chloe feel asleep at the switch. Jill from RSG was smart enough to bounce before it all blew up.

if you have a regular go see her no one will bother you.
