END OF MESSAGE

n a first-of-its-kind operation in the lakes area, law enforcement arrested nine men in a prostitution sting in Baxter late last month.
The men are in the process of being charged by the Crow Wing County Attorney's Office for soliciting prostitution in a public place, a gross misdemeanor offense.
On May 19, Baxter police placed an advertisement on Backpage.com, a classified advertising website the National Center on Sexual Exploitation says generates nearly 80 percent of all online prostitution advertising revenue. The post, placed under the "Escort" section, advertised the services of a fictional 22-year-old woman named Sunny. The ad stated the woman would be in town for one day only and provided fictional photos and a phone number.

The ad - entitled "Fun and Frisky platinum BLONDE IN Town May 20th!!!!!" - read: "I'm super HOT & have tight lil' body for giving you a real TREAT!!!"

An undercover officer posing as Sunny on the phone set up appointments at a Baxter hotel with men who called or texted the provided phone number.

On May 20, police arrested nine men who knocked on the door of a hotel room, the number to which was communicated to them when they arrived in the hotel parking lot. The men arrested - known as "johns" - all have addresses in the local area and range in age from 27 to 71 years old.

They include a 27-year-old Little Falls man, a 32-year-old Crosby man, a 32-year-old Brainerd man, a 42-year-old Breezy Point man, a 43-year-old Breezy Point man, a 47-year-old Little Falls man, a 49-year-old Akeley man, a 62-year-old Aitkin man and a 71-year-old Brainerd man

Wow, I feel safer already.

It took awhile but I found the old ad and tried posting on this site which the administration rejected. Do a google search or bing search, also its listed on some of the other sites

Arrest you for showing up, even though you didn't text or talked about sex act for $$?

yes and no...

If you have money in your pocket they will say this is for the sex.   But if you only used the words "massage" and never indicated sex or a sexual act.  It could be hard for them to press charges but yet they will drag your name through the mud and make your life a living hell.

Now if you show up with the cash and a condom in your pocket.... looks more dubious and they or a court might look at it as you were expecting sex.

or if you have drugs on you or anything else illegal.

So it isn't 100% you will get prosecuted but you could get arrested or made an example of... or your name is out there that you got picked up.

Because they an arrest you for solicitation..

"Solicitation

Solicitation occurs whenever a person uses words, actions, or any type of conduct in an attempt to engage in an act of prostitution. The law does not require you to actually engage in the intended conduct, and anyone who simply offers to engage in sex for money -- or any other kind of compensation -- has committed solicitation of prostitution. However, the solicitation actions must go beyond simple displays, availability, or common communications. You must openly seek to engage in prostitution in order to be convicted of solicitation of prostitution. Solicitation can also mean any overt attempt to entice or induce another person to commit prostitution."

Convicting you would be harder but for most guys the damage is done when they get arrested whether they are convicted or not.

Convict you?  Very doubtful unless you do something to give them evidence they can use, including that of some other crime, which could be as simple as telling them a lie.
