A friend and hobbyist related this to me at a Superbowl party tonite and I thought it was important enough to post. This once again illustrates the serious necessity of checking for reviews, TER is a valuable resource, and using Tineye before making contact is a necessity.
Over the weekend he followed up on two BP ads. I checked them out and it was a TGTBT story.

Both responses stated they wanted money or would extort him by outing him to his wife (he is divorced) or posting his facebook page (he doesn't have one). He didn't relate the amount they wanted but I would surmise it was substantial...
Be safe out there and rely on this board and this community to enjoy the hobby.

... and sometimes it's nearsighted.
This is why guys should never ever give out their personal information.
Finally couldn't take it and just told the truth that I was being blackmailed and it went away with some pain.
Why I like services like RS2K and TER for background because don't want to give ID or work info for that reason.
