P411 - Optional Activities Listing

Hi there,

If we are talking about the same thing, the list of "Activities Enjoyed" by a given provider on her P-411 profile is still there if the provider wants to make it public, but it is now optional. The provider can choose whether she would like to make this visible to those who are capable of viewing her profile, or she can hide it from everybody. There are few things that we can choose to make visible in addition to the services listing (the acronyms), including our birthday/age and phone number.

I had my activities listing private for a while and just made it public again, and have grappled with the risk/benefit to making it visible. We can select who our profile is available to in terms of a minimum member threshold: for example, I initially elected to make my profile on P-411 available to any member of the service, but recently changed that so only members with 1 or more provider okays can view it. This is really just a matter of personal safety thresholds; how stringent is our screening and who do we want to consider for the pool of eligible hobbyists who might then contact us. Obviously it does nobody any good to make a profile available to guys who don't have sufficient references to meet our screening criteria, but my process is pretty relaxed (I think so at least...). Everybody starts somewhere, even providers, but some don't feel the perceived risk is worth the upside.

Hopefully this helps out. Since I am still fairly new as a provider (under 6 months in the industry and only about 3 months indy), I rarely know the answers to questions like this and hope this is accurate info. Please correct me if I am wrong though

This is something I noticed the other day.  Every provider who has a p411 page that I have looked at - once upon a time, after the provider talked about herself and what she was like as a person, there was a list of acronyms of some of the provider's enjoyed / preferred activities.  While this is obviously never a guarantee of quality, and YMMV in all cases, I always thought it was a somewhat interesting indicator of what one may expect.  That section of P411 seems to have disappeared, and there is simply the provider's description of herself and links to any reviews.  Anyone else notice this happened, and get an explanation as to why?  Customer service has not answered my inquiries in this regards.  Sorry to ask about another website here, but I know P411 is a popular service amongst both providers and hobbyists here.  Is it simply possible that many providers have stopped using the lists of acronyms because it was creating false expectations or not allowing for YMMV situations?

Yes, I think they changed it. Now they show it only to members of p411, so you will need to log in in order to see it. They have a 6-months free trial, so you could sign up but you need to know that not everyone fills out this section anyways.

I'm a member and they still have the list of activity acronyms for us.

I had a P411 membership that I let lapse after I went through some economic hard times a year or so ago.  So that is certainly the explanation.  Members only now.  Well, can't blame them - one wants to make one's service as attractive and valuable as possible.
