I'd have to think something will pop up to take their place. I think there's just too much demand for it not to. I do feel bad for some of the providers who reply on BP's volume to even out their business.
The alternative for the girls who strictly post on BP is to now post in women seeking men which alot of them including myself have been doing anyway.
But in all honestly you would have had to be blind not to see this coming, I pretty much called it after they arrested the owner. I'm expecting TER because its free to be flooded as well as 411also. The great thing about it for you guys who were using BP is that now the BP girls who scam guys can be outed if they so choose to bring their BP antics over to TER thinking they won't get outed.

100% correct. Clearly, I'm on this site so my morality or lack thereof speaks for itself...but that does not negate the fact that we are really speaking about hookers losing an advertising venue! I mean, that's like really a thing? Call them escorts if you want, but they're hookers and the men (like me) who use their services are "johns." So...who the hell are we to get all indignant about the First Amendment? Nobody here really thinks this is a First Amendment issue, I mean come on! What's next, quoting the Federalist Papers? There are many ways to advertise. One has been cut off. It's hardly an assault by the government on citizens at the courthouse steps trying to exercise political speech against a tyrannical dictatorship.
That said, I've found the indignation to be amusing. "Escorts" are by nature enterprising. I am sure the clever ladies here can figure out a way to advertise elsewhere or even begin something anew for everyone's use. As an entrepreneur myself, I am sensitive to any obstacles put in the way of a true businessman or woman, but when that happens, we adapt. It's what businesses do. Be safe everyone - - - EOM

Most people don't even know about TER. I would say around 20%. We had clients from Europe check BP and book...they never heard of TER either...

But TER is popular enough in Chicago. Outside of Chicago, different States and Cities all have their popular favorite sites for this business. Too bad we cannot mention the TER competitors. When I travel to the places where TER is not popular, or to the market small enough that TER doesn't have a section for it, I need to google to find what people use over there.
I'd say it's cost of doing business, plus, TER may get some clients different from your BP pool. Hope it will balance out for you.

Though this is not the 1st time this happened. CL Adult services was the goto for many for a long time and then they got hit and shut down, now BP. I am sure that means someone will be popping up with something soon to replace it as happened before. However till then many will be coming here and to any and all other advertising venues to find new girls to see.
Step up your screening game, don't give into anything that makes you uncomfortable and you should be ok.

I stopped using BP years ago, it didn't hit my target audience and basically was a pain to weed through all the nonsense contacts I got. I do feel for those who used BP exclusively however, if anyone goes out of business over this, it's by their choice. There's too many other options out there for advertising and to learn from.
I have always been a strong advocate of encouraging the government to do what they do best and let business do what it does best, make money. I agree that the government should protect children and women from abuse. I do not know how much Back Page contributed to child sex trafficking or abuse however if they did then I think that is an issue that should be addressed, however perhaps not their whole business.
I have used Back Page for the most part successfully because I think I understand some of its limitations and problems and I prepared for those. In that process I have met a number of young women who depended on Back Page to help them make a living or supplement their employment. I met with one lady on a regular basis over a couple of years while she worked herself out of a problem situation until she was able to leave the hobby. We remain friends.
I am meeting in the next couple of days for a repeat meeting with a lady that I was first introduced to through Back Page. I saw her ad on Back Page and as a result I was able to find her profile on TER which made it comfortable for me to meet with her the first time. I am in an area that is not highly populated. We occasionally see ladies from TER who are touring the area and there apparent regular practice is to advertise in Back Page and then decide if there is enough interest for them to visit. In fact Lexie Lee (292598) had advertised for a period of time on Back Page and she has now scheduled to be in the area January 18-20 according to her ad that she posted yesterday. I would be interested in seeing how much interest she will generate without Back Page at this point. I do hope her success, as her success will encourage other ladies to look at this area, however I am not that optimistic.
So whatever will happen to Back Page will happen. I am appreciative of the wonderful ladies I have met by finding their ads on Back Page and I hope that an alternative will appear. Not just for myself but for the ladies that need another option.

I believe that what sealed their fate was the case of the 16 year old girl who was murdered in the south suburbs per a back page encounter. Guess they had no way of verifying ages. Surprised nobody brought it up sooner.

And hopefully ladies who don't know about other boards find their way soon and never again get too comfortable with just one site or board for their income (or hell even one type of business/line of work).
Sites come and go. I could name a handful of great sites that disappeared, due to sloppy management mostly, that have been replaced. If BP would've verified ages there wouldn't be this issues. They may re-activate, they may not. This really will weed out the amateurs and thieves. They will not make it to far on any of the other established sites. That falls into the 'plus' category

Supposedly, Backpage had software to alter ads before posting them. The senate report says "Backpage has maintained a practice of altering ads before publication by deleting words, phrases, and images indicative of criminality, including child sex trafficking". Of course, it is quite common for cops to label any prostitution sting as battling child sex trafficking even when no under age or pimped providers are involved. So, it is difficult to know what to think of this. I'd like to think that the market for underage providers is small enough that places like backpage could actually aid in reporting child sex trafficking without a significant hit on their profits. In fact, I've seen where some cops have praised Backpage for their rapid response to search warrants.
Of course, if prostitution were legal, then Johns could report suspected cases of sex trafficking, which might significantly reduce this problem.
Well, except in Germany other other countries where it's legal and sex workers and their clients actually enjoy equal protection under the law.
