I'm an example of someone that is watching the PMs accumulate until I get back to VIP.

I don't anyone to think I'm ignoring them.

Just curious but I'm pretty sure I've seen aliases with and without the yellow envelope.

I've sent PMs to both those with and w/o. When there is no yellow envelope, I just click on the alias.

Don't really track my mail so can't say but...

When there are no yellow envelopes with the aliases, are they not going through and just floating in internet cyberspace?

But you can PM an Alias by clicking on it and you need VIP to have an alias so any alias can receive  PMs

if there are no reviews attached to it, that means in the case of a guy that he has never written a review, like in my case. If it's a provider it means that she has either never received a review, or that her reviews are not yet linked to her handle.

As long as you are not using ClassicTER your PM's to an alias poster will go through as easily as PMing his/her "real" fake name, AND you can be certain that an alias poster can receive PM's as only VIP members can post under an alias. Many "brown envelopes" ie posters without reviews, do not have VIP, but there is no way to tell unless they respond to your PM.

Some "brown envelopes" have credibility, using myself as an example, I have been here over a decade, I moderated several boards, including the national discussion board, and most likely I have around 30,000 total posts on TER. Other "brown envelopes" have no credibility and some are actually posters that have reinvented themselves after either ruining their reputation or being outright banned by admin.

I don't think the good Doctor was making a joke.  As a long term member here he was alerting others on the board that he can't read PMs right now.

What do you find "ROTFLMFAO" funny about this?

Relax johnny, I know he's a long time member and that makes it even funnier to me actually.  
I just thought it was hilarious that Dr. Bud knows his PMs are piling up but not doing the easiest thing in the world to read them - either pay to be VIP or submit a review.  

Of course, there are a million possible reasons why he's not doing either of those things but that's not pertinent to your question. I just thought it was funny that he acknowledged the unanswered PMs in his box. I think I even have one of those unanswered PMs in his box, too lol.  

You don't always have to make a joke for another to find some humor eh! Chill out.

...I don't agree, but that's not the issue.  What you posted was "Rolling on The Floor Laughing My Fucking Ass Off"  which comes off as an insult to the guy and you confirmed that with your "explanation".  So, you see that "the why" is actually pertinent and since we don't know why, it should not be a laughing matter...imo.

I guess I don't use 'rotf...' the same way you do.  

It was not meant as an insult at all nor should it be taken as one.  

I just burst out laughing when I read Dr. Bud's words and typed 'rotf...'.  
Next time I'll use 'burst out laughing' and see if the 'humor police' let that slide.

Not sure what insult I said that I confirmed with my "explanation" but I'll get over it. If you want to spell it out for me, that's fine.

Sorry I don't laugh at the same things you do but you can still have a great day. I know I am:-)
