Why would a provider even want to call your home?..

Perhaps to discuss with your wife what pleases you the most?  :o)

Trying to get verified by a potential provider, which as a newbie can be difficult. Just filled out a verification form on a website for one and prov returned with an e-mail giving three options in the place of previous provider references. Two of the options appeared "normal" and made sense but one was: home number and address (will not call). Is that often used?  And should I give that info?

Cross checking a phone number with address is one means of verification.  Depending upon where you actually are, you may want to consider a service that gives providers the verification they need when they call in to them - like Date Check, 411, Roomservice 2000 etc... that saves you the worry of giving this info out all of the time, and is often much quicker for verification on part of the lady.

Provided home info after reading sgandolfs response. Got an immediate e-mail reply and thumbs up from provider without any call to home phone, so...still somewhat reluctant, but worked in this instance.

Once somebody has one of these, the other can easily be found on the internet and probably the provider will use your information to see if it's consistent, e.g. whether you are reliable.

As others said get verified by date check/preferred411 once to avoid further submission of your personal information to providers.

Do research and use common sense. I have only given out my work number, after I have made a judgement call that the provider is professional and will use the discretion in how they will treat my information. But again, its a judgement call that is usually based on her reviews. I havent been wrong yet (i.e. where the provider continued to call me at work to harrass). Under no circumstances would I give out a home number or home address. They do not need this information. A work number and employment verification should be sufficient.

I undersand the information provided is for the comfort and security of the ladies. But as a hobbyist, you need to feel comfortable who you are giving the information out to.

This is a big hang up for me..I don't like to provide any information. So I get the cold shoulder alot!!  Hey I understand and am not offended in any way. I have lost relations with providers that got very mad when I asked them to provide a refrance! Hey give out your home phone number Are YOU NUTS!!!!!!!! What a stupid thing to ask 1st of all an even Dumber thing to DO!!!! I am selective how much information you give out is risky at best!!! If the police get her book and TRUST ME they all have them!!! You are in deep do do!! They hang on to your information and if it falls into the wrong hands and you will be in court on the witness stand or at your local police department giving all the details about your goings on... I respect the providers need to be safe but that is a fine LINE !!!! What happens if you give all this information and then give them a bad REVIEW >...LMAO....You get screwed AGAIN!!! I did a review but felt VERY  reluctant to provide many details this is personal stuf here. Frankly it's a good thing and bad thing but by all means be realistic. Give out your home number...I think I blew a gut muscle..

Seems fairly normal from my experience.  The provider I once tried to meet asked me for my home address and number, although she said she will not call the number.  Basically, she treated my information discretely and professionally.  With that said, she ended up bailing on the appointment at the last minute.  I'll give her credit for not using my info against me, though.
