using services to acquire email password of SO/friend/boss, is it legal?

There are several websites advertising the ability to hack into email accounts; just wondering if it is legal to hack into someone's account, be it a SO/spouse you suspect is cheating, or friend, or boss, etc  Assuming this is only information gathering, and not an attempt to steal credit card info, money, or anything else.

Anyone have experience with these websites who ask for $100-$150 to obtain email passwords

......"to access a computer illegally".  I would contact your attorney to learn the consequences, should you get caught.

Read this article to find out how you can get up to 50 years in prison for doing exactly what you just said.

Yes, the Palin breach was pure illegal hacking, but why on earth would someone conspire (conspiricy/racketeering) to commit a crime, involving a third party.  One could probably add interstate commerce fraud, if they were so inclined.

I doubt a reputable company would admit to it.  What is to be gained by it?  If you truly think a spouse is cheating there are low tech ways to be sure.  I'm not suggesting doing so & going all Postal...  but knowledge is power & gives you the correct information to make correct decisions.

My ex was cheating.  Honestly, I knew she was lying & running around.  Eventually it became so blatant it was impossible to ignore.  Too bad she could never tell me the truth, that she didn't want to be with me.
I had trouble coming to terms with it.  (I never cheated on her.  I didn't hobby until 30 years later.  I'd have been so much better off hobbying than married to someone who only loved my bank account.)  I should have sought out counseling for myself alone so MY decision making would have driven the events that unfolded.  Instead, I was stuck reacting to her decisions right up to the moment I moved out.  Once I was out, I had the initiative again.

email?  To catch a cheating spouse?  Or to gain information for identity theft or blackmail (felonies).  YOU say you are going to commit a crime but not commit MORE crimes after that.  It might be the easy way to find out but not necessarily definitive.

I caught my ex in the days before email & cell phones:
Claimed she was home all night but when I returned from an overnight shift, the car was creeking with the heat & hood hot.
I showed up at her GFs when she claimed to be there & was not.
Same GF told me where she was going.  I saw with my own eyes her car in front of no tell motel.
