The value of VIP status also affords easier search capabilities. As a hobbyist, the search capabilities are so much quicker and easier to utilize as a VIP. Granted the communication through TER private mail is a huge plus, I think the search capabilities of your VIP status is just as important as the mail capability.

Although it is much easy for me, as a provider, to reference a gentleman through his posts, comments and reviews when he contacts me through TER private mail system....… I still think the search capabilities might be just as valuable to a hobbyist.

When searching reviews, you can get instant questions answered in regards to who a particular hobbyist has reviewed if you are VIP.

By just clicking onto a reviewers name (under the review of a particular lady), you will instantly see his review history.  Additionally, the search capabilities of a VIP are much more expanded than a basic member. (*In regards to who some one has reviewed as a hobbyist or who someone has seen as a provider*) Knowing a reviewers history helps to paint a better picture for you in regards to how he assigns his score and how eclectic his particular tastes maybe.

To give you a better idea:
Under my reviews-:
First reviewer (Handyman) he has reviewed 8 women and has scored most between 8 and 10. reading his reviewers (*from a VIP stance*) you can get an idea of what his particular attractions to a provider are. This is easy to see if you are a VIP because you simply click on his screen name once you have opened the link next to my name that says (see my TER reviews)

My next review has a “8” and a “9”   Without the VIP advantage of being able to view all of his reviews, you probably wouldn’t notice that Blackfire has in fact reviewed 15 providers but has never given a “10”, out of the 15 reviews he has only given one “9” in appearance (*this seems to put things a little more into prospective as to how he assigns his numbers*) thus helping you, as a new hobbyist, understand his impression of a particular provider that he has reviewed.

In a nutshell: The easiest way to get a quick impression is to first access all of the providers reviews, once that screen is open (*as a VIP member*) you can then open any hobbyist reviews by simply clicking on the “Reviewers” name. This will open another screen with all of the providers that he has reviewed in front of you. (*If you still don’t have a solid impression simply go down the reviewers list and when you open a review (*by clicking view*)  look to the top right hand of the review for the words: “see providers profile”  This should help you understand the physical attributes of the provider and exactly what the reviewer found appealing. (Of course when you add the profile information with the review comments you should now have a full picture*)

Not to diminish the valuable help that TER private mail can add to a new hobbyist’s ability to communicate with other hobbyists and providers...…-but-…... the search features of a VIP are just as valuable in the sense of accessing information in a quick manner.

Best wishes in your search, I hope you are successful in finding what you seek.

Hello everyone,

Besides being able to see the full reviews for providers (i.e. the juicy details) is there anything else that most of you enjoy or use with your VIP status?  I'm trying to determine if I should buy a full year or not.

Thanks,

TER's VIP membership currently includes the following perks:
- access to all details on provider profiles
- access to all details on provider reviews
- access to enhanced review search functions
- access to the White List feature
- access to the Personal Favorites feature
- access to the Provider Rankings feature
- access to the Private Mail feature
- ability to create username aliases

Although you can read and search TER reviews without VIP membership, you must be a VIP to search by certain fields, and you must be a VIP to be able to see the provider reviews and provider profile data in their entirety.

Enhanced review search functions include the ability to search on many review fields, and also include phone number matching and Reviewer matching.

One way to become a VIP member is to submit reviews. After you have two reviews posted on the board, you become eligible to become a member with 30 days worth of access time. You will then receive an additional fifteen days for each additional review that is approved.  You must become a registered user before you can submit reviews. Your VIP Membership will be activated within 24 hours of TER publishing your reviews.

You can check the status of your VIP days by clicking on 'Account Manager' at the top of the page, and then clicking on 'Edit My Profile' in the left-hand column.  The resulting screen will show the number of days you have in your membership bank.

You can check the status of your submitted reviews by clicking on 'Account Manager' at the top of the page, then clicking on 'My Reviews' in the left-hand column.  The resulting screen will display all of your submitted reviews, the status of each review (New, Approved, or Unapproved), as well as comments if a submitted review has not been approved.

purchasing VIP for a quarter (3 months) then submitting reviews or problem reports to supplement this.
I last paid for VIP membership in 2004 for 90 days, then subsequently submitted enough problem reports to get my VIP day count up over 600 days.
I'm categorically excluded from submitting reviews, so this is a viable option for me, if you are not into the "research" thing.
I know members with enough VIP days that seem endless.
It's your call, but very worth it.

...in posts if someone has VIP access? I've sent PMs only to find out they couldn't access the msg.

I've had some great back channel discussions with many members.  That was my greatest inducement to pay for VIP status.
