Try searching the Newbie forum for topics that interest you, and you will likely find that many discussion threads already exist.

Both the TER discussion boards and TER reviews contain a multitude of information designed to assist you in making good hobby decisions.

Welcome to TER, dig in and start learning. Anything you might want to know can be found on the discussion boards, and there is a wealth of reviews waiting for you to peruse for your next (and hopefully better because it is well researched) encounter.

In the meantime, get your feet wet with the process of writing reviews too and write a review on the not-so-good experience you had. Your review will help other gents avoid the same disappointment and waste of money.
