Did you take pictures in that hotel room and post an ad?

I am sure they are not tracking your IP, or getting that data from back page, or hacking your phone. You may have simply taken a photo from one of their hotel rooms and posted it.

Hotels track IP addresses when you post ads on BP.I was not aware of that.Just got busted at a local hotel in the nw suburbs.I posted an ad(my face was not showing)and hotel manager called my room and said "Maam we see you just posted an ad on BP.We do not allow illegal acts in our hotel.Leave or we will call the cops."Keep in mind I did not use the hotels Wi-Fi.I used my own data from my phone.I wish everyone a safe Labor Day weekend.Be safe

Not sure how a hotel "can track your IP address" if you're using your data plan to connect to the web and not their wifi.

I'm not 100% sure but if you weren't on their wifi I'm pretty sure they can't locate your IP address. Again I'm not 100% sure but there's no way for them to know who you are or how and when you post your ad. Like I someone drove up to that hotel parking lot and was doing stuff with there cell phone I pretty sure the hotel would know what they are doing on the phone. I'm guessing what happened is when you checked in and saw you and he thought you may be trouble so he went on BP to look through ads in the area. I'm not sure if this is what happened but he might have seen something unique about you and then saw the post maybe a tattoo jewelry or something to pin point your photos are you even if the face is blurred out.  Just my 2 cents. I'm guessing some computer guy should be able to answer this question!

I have read a LOT of her posts that simply don't add up, this is yet another one of those REALLY dumb posts in a long line of dumb posts.

NO, they didn't track her IP Address if she wasn't on their Wi Fi.

I would take any claim made by the OP with a HUGE grain of salt.

Well if she had taken a photo from one of there rooms the only way they would know is if they search on BP? Or there would be no connection to her and the hotel. So if she did take a pic at the hotel and posted it the manager or who ever contacted her had to have seen the photo and realized its there hotel and the girl that checked in.

Or did I miss something?

and trace their IP via back page or however if not connected to wi-fi.

There are many stories, however, of people getting kicked out of hotels fro snapping pictures and posting ads. Not a good idea.

BTW, I remember when people used to play "Which hotel is the hooker in" on back page. Try to guess which hotel she is in by the background. Anyone who frequents them will be able to tell, and pimps are always scouting bp ads I'm sure - to get rid of their competition.

By the way, here's an article on the new app that has been created where you can send in hotel photos.

There is a cell phone app "babysitter software" that you send phone to phone . ..  It shows the user's whole screen to the person who sent the surveillance app ... There are also cheap "easy to use" keystroke loggers to you just plug into someone's phone that  shows the surveillance user all of the typing you ever did on your phone ( including cut and pasted text ) !!!  I know about this because an abusive stalker did that to me like three years ago  : (

I was sitting outside of a McDonald's, and I tried to pull up TER on my phone - I was definitely not on their wi-fi - and it was blocked.  Instead a message popped up saying "Adult websites are blocked in or around this location to ensure a pleasant experience for customers."   Or something along those lines.  I'm not quite sure how they interrupted my data connection, but they did.

I'm not sure how this could or would be possible. Have you been to that McDonald's before or ever and or used wifi at a McDonald's? Only thing I could think would be your phone auto connected to the closest wifi. I've never heard of a way to put a digital web that could or would lock you out. I have wifi at my gym and if I accidentally click private browser it says can't be access but I'm on there wifi if I turn wifi off I can do what ever I want. The only other thing I could think of is some phones use locations of wifi connects in and around you to locate a better gps location that might be able to ping something off that. Idk what else could do that? Is there someone on the forum that knows computer and wifi and networking that can throw in their thoughts!

Your cell phone # is on file when you checked in.  You must have used same mobile number you use in your ad.  Front desk googled it and found you.
Do you use the same phone # for personal use AND for your ads as well?

In order to track an IP address, you first need to get someone IP address. And there are only a few ways to do that. First there must be direct communication between two people online in a chat. Secondly you have to pay for a service that can trace IP address. There is no possible way that anyone can track IP address from an ad. If that was possible everyone would be hacked in a much easier way.

Matters how it is sent if you send me a email from your home computer I can run IP trace. But you send it from gmail or cell phone no.

If you connect to a wifi you are given an IP address from a phone. That you can track. But I do believe that original poster got caught by other means and not by IP address

I have to agree with GMoney10.

What you described is very, very unlikely. Either you were on their wifi and didn't know it or used your business phone for your checkin.

As for pulling into McDonalds etc and getting thsty messafge, make sure that smart wifi is turned OFF. That's the easiest way to get your phone hacked and info stolen.

Navy Pier was just ranked the number 10 place in the US for phone hacks and data thef. Be careful out there.

I'm in a tech field - the odds are more likely the hotel did a search on the phone number or a picture search as suggested above. It is also possible that the phone auto-connected to a local public hotspot, which is most likely in the case of the McDonalds noted above. I've had it happen. To prevent that, there should be a setting associated with your wireless settings that requires you to confirm any network connection.

The only way of tracking of a cellular phone on a cellular network can be done is through very advanced cell site simulator technology that hijacks your connection. You've probably heard about it on the news under the trade name "Stingray." The equipment is highly restricted and not available to the public. Even that, though, isn't IP tracking.

My guess is the hotel used other means and told you they were IP tracking to hide how they actually did it... unless you had jumped onto their wi-fi service without realizing it.

I used my personal phone number for check in.And when you google it nothing comes up.Also I did not use their Wi-Fi.Again I used my own data to post the ad.I did snap brand new photos in their hotel while their.Mabe Courtney is right about them google searching the image

It always gets you eventually.

wth are you talking about??

If escorts are bad people and deserve to have bad luck because of Karma then why are you on a forum for escorts and those in the hobby???

SPOTYjudge400 reads

You are another one that karma will get soon. You and your agency is despised in many forums. The only one to blame for that is yourself.

GaGambler433 reads

You keep piling up those SPOTY points and you will soon be giving fg and FatVern a run for their money

Are you threatening me??

My agency is despised? Then why all the good reviews???

is only use your "Brand New" pics after you check out of that hotel.  Never use them when you are checked into it or if you plan to use that hotel regularly.  GL

either wait to post the pics, or blur the backgrounds so they cannot be used to figure out which place you are using.

So much for my evidently naive assumption that hotels really don't care about hobbyists as long as they remain discreet. Unless it's the potential for their hotel to be associated with an ad that they consider an intolerable indiscretion, which kind of makes sense actually.

I am a wireless telecommunications engineer.  I agree, as others have said, that it is unlikely you were tracked or hacked. If you used your personal phone for check-in and turned wi-fi off on your business phone then there is no way they could track you from a hotel.  As pointed out the equipment is far too expensive for a company to invest in and install in all of their locations.  In fact, from what you quoted, the hotel person did not even mention IP address, yes?

Odds are they recognised the room or some distinguishing feature of your body (Tattoo, jewelry).  Checking in with a plain vanilla appearance should negate that factor.

What fascinates me most is that they have the time and inclination to be cruising BackPage at all.  Is that like reading Playboy for the articles?  Maybe if you offered him a discount he would have "forgotten the whole matter", LOL!

Knowing what little I know about you from your posts, that would be my first guess.

GaGambler277 reads

I will stop being mean when she stops being stupid. How is that for a deal?

Maybe Ragnar might be interested in her? Or if we are feeling particularly mean today, we could always set her up with cosmicsuckup and that way she could get off of Back Page altogether? Although I am sure in no time she would miss the "good old days" of being a BP ho. lmao

Maybe some business provides a service to hotels based on the pattern-matching technology Courtney references above. Upload some pics of your hotel rooms, their software continuously scans Backpage for matches, and notifies your front desk when it finds a jot. Sounds a little far-fetched, but who knows.

LE regularly stops by and offers front desk staff as well as management training on how to spot escorts.. With some girls it is quite obvious. But with others you would never know. So LE has a program that teaches hotel staff how to recognize escorts..And yes they go over BP daily to see if any are working out of their establishments.

If Mscurious is as half as dumb as her posts indicate she is, I wouldn't put it past her to go checking into a hotel dressing and acting like the dumb BP ho she portrays herself to be here on the boards.

The ONLY smart thing she does is to make her dumb posts from behind an alias.

Reage665 reads

I think that is a little uncalled for.  I also think your use of the phrase "ho" shows a marked lack of respect for the women in the business.  I think you should think twice, if that's even possible, before making unkind comments about someone you do not even know.

Most of the women in the business have the good sense to keep their appearance outside of work (i.e. on the street, shopping, when checking in, picking up the kids from school, and other normal [civilian] activities, etc) apart from their working persona.

I defy anyone to positively identify a sex worker purely by the way s/he dresses.  Go to any club in town (Sound Bar, Spy Bar, any of the Polish/Eastern European clubs) and you will see women/men on the dance floor who many would, without hesitation, "profile" as a SW.  Including some of your girlfriends/wives/boyfriends.  I go frequently and the women are dressed to thrill and to flaunt their beauty.  And to dance and have a good time.  People dress they way they do at clubs because they feel good about themselves, and hope to meet like-minded people, perhaps to get lucky with, perhaps not.  It is not up to you to profile people, or encourage it, based on your "TV/movies" idea of what an escort looks like.

Profiling is doing enough damage to too many people in this country to begin with.  We should not be promoting it here.

GaGambler267 reads

Some of it is well deserved. MsCurious has proven herself by her posts to most definitely be a "dumb ho". It's her I don't respect, not the rest of the women in this business.

So please drop with the uber sensitivity and listen to what I actually said, and stop painting with that broad brush of yours.

Notice, even you said "Most" women in the business, I was not directing my comments at "most women in the business" I was directing them at ONE woman, a woman who doesn't seem to get even the simplest aspects of being a hooker and hence ends up getting kicked out of her hotel before so much as seeing a single client.

Lastly, if you someday find it necessary to comment about the stupid actions of one 'dumb john" I am not going to accuse you of being a man hater who is disrespecting all of her clients. I will accept the fact that you took issue with the dumb actions of "one" man, and not try to put together any nonexistent dots.

. . . that they gave you the option to leave and did not contact LE to set up a sting.

Edward Snowden deep cover NSA operative

                I highly doubt it!

Having formerly worked at the front desk of over 7 hotels, and about every brand there is (except Hilton) I can assure you that they are not tracking IP addresses. I can also assure you that they rarely care what their guests are doing as long as you are respectful and discreet.
When I worked front desk, when I saw someone who was being indiscreet with their appearance, yes I would check BP and find their ads and laugh to myself about it. However, I didn't kick them out obviously and my managers would not have wanted me to, as they knew what was going on and we talked about it. I was the only one on staff who did that because I was the only one who knew about BP. And this was about 3 years ago so BP was definitely around, as were those programs people seem to think are a big deal.

LE does offer education and seminars on those types of things like recognizing escorts and drug dealers, but that is mainly something LE wants them to do for compliance. Hotels are aware that without our type of business, a lot of their business goes away. They just want people to be responsible and respectful while they do it. They don't want attention called to them and posting pics you just took in your room is calling attention to them, so that would be a definite way to get them to remove you as a customer. Notice, they didn't call the cops though because they have no personal investment in that. If she hadn't taken those pics and posted them right away, she would have been just fine.

Just keep yourself looking normal and don't check in super early and have a bunch of people visit you or constantly use the same hotel and things will be fine. Even after you check out, the maids may make fun of what they find in the room like condoms and too many towels, but they rarely tell management because it's nothing new. There are usually way funnier things to talk about than that when you're in a hotel.
I had a girl stain the sheets with rose petals once and we all knew who she was and I'd seen many of her ads, but she still was never confronted or asked to leave.

Just quit checking in early with fake eyelashes on, lol.
