Forget the phone book.

I'd avoid looking at the phone book; they probably think you're a cop, trying to entrap them, or they may just be scammers who don't have time to deal with someone who is really looking for work.  Instead, I'd recommend looking around online for some reputable agencies in your area (or a few reputable independents) and send them an email.  Some may ignore you, but you may get someone who is willing to give you a few tips about who to talk to, and who to avoid.  There is also a good "newbie primer" here at TER, and most escort sites will have some guidance for newbies (although it may well be tilted toward the male hobbyists).

Good luck, and have fun!
