I'd first like to thank all of the hobbyists and providers who post here. This board has a lovely wealth of information that is very very helpful to me as I begin my journey as a provider.
One thing that is clear to me from this board is that client screening is as important to many hobbyists as it is to me. I wondered about this at first because I'd received a number of smart**ssed responses from guys who just didn't get it.
Sooo...one option for my friends is to provide two provider references. I've tried to call several different providers to get references and these gals are not getting back to me. I'm wondering if I'm saying the wrong thing or if there is some other problem. I've been courteous and discreet and am open in that I'm new...in case I do say something wrong.
I would love any advice or suggestions in this. What is appropriate in calling another provider? I am yet unknown...these gals don't know me or of me...and this is yet another hurdle to cross.

You mention that you are yet unknown, that may be your biggest hurdle. Make sure you give a nice introduction, "Hi, my name is Renity and I'm a local indy in (boston). I advertise on TER though have no reviews at this time. I'm hoping that you will be able to provide a reference for..." When you do begin to have reviews, make sure to let the lady know your website info and where the reviews can be found so that there is a level of trust established.
Some ladies do not give references.
I also suggest having the gent email the lady in advance, notifying her that he has used her name as a reference to see you. This assures the lady that you are not an SO or wife fishing for info on the gent.

Thanks for the tips! There is a necessary etiquette to so much of what we do and your example intro shows me an eloquent way to handle these calls.
There are certainly a great number of hurdles in getting started! I'm so glad to have been introduced to TER, it shall make leaping these hurdles more graceful.

is that the ladies are busy with clients - and they are unable to respond immediately. As Sola pointed out, they may not give references.
Consider registration with Date Check, 411, RS2K as an alternative - while your initial layout in funds will tap your resources, in the long term it will probably bring a wealth of firm scheduling from clients - these services are there for you and and client and normally respond with very reasonable timeframe with the ok or ney.
There are several downsides to provider references. That said, it's one of the great tools we have to try to help one another stay safe. Ladies who give references usually prioritize those requests over returning messages to others. No, it's not instant, but I caution any lady from scheduling ASAP appointments. It's a common LE tactic.
In four years I've never had a client contact me using any of the screening services. I suppose they are more popular in some parts of the country than others... for me it would be a waste of my funds and time to sign up for them. Aside of that, I would never trust a third party to do my screening for me.
I do hear that they work well for some ladies.

I'm considering the different 3rd party options...though it's hard to glean as much as I'd like about them (and as for all of us, time is certainly a factor!). So too, just as it is yet another investment for me...it is another investment for hobbyists.
We'll see, I'm playing around with a few options.
