Welcome Back!!!

I've been out of town for a bit, and have returned to find some interesting threads and thoughtful responses in here. Yay!

Ayannasea and Decanter both made reference to the differences in the style of the reviews and review writing here on TER. Which brought me to the realization that we aren't in Kansas any more.  We should all be aware that, while moderated for some things, the discussion boards here are handled very differently than what we are used to. We were moderated to be polite and civilized, for the most part. Rude stuff was tossed out on it's a**. I'll miss that which I've always considered the invisible hand.

Prepare yourselves. We will need to do it ourselves now. Part of our challenge involves being more tolerant of different "styles", but part of it also may mean being more purposeful in being polite and kind. And maybe we can have us some good clean fun up in here.

I often find that silence says more than words, especially when choosing to not respond to someone being a rude d**k. I lose interest really fast when a discussion degenerates into name calling, and some discussion boards on TER are all about that.

I think we can do better in the Seattle forum. We are just a smallish city way off somewhere over the rainbow. There are some really good things about the habits we've developed and I would love to see them continue.

It's good to be back

I'm more familiar with TER than the local board, and Jill is right about the tone of many of the TER boards. The worst is the General Dicussion board with many posters who openly enjoy being as mean and disrespectful as possible. The regional boards tend to be better and Jill is right that we can help ours stay that way. For those who are a little more mature, the 60 And Over board is a thoughtful, polite board with many who frequent it because of that. Some of the posts are entertaining no matter your age!
