The crime of solicitation was "completed" as soon as money was offered for sex

Neither performance by the john nor prior discussions are necessary. As described in the article, the solicitation was made in the presence of LW and, therefore, these arrests were valid without a warrant.

But how pitiful to hear the "victims of sex trafficking" rationale to justify the arrest of these men in a sting when the overwhelming majority of sex for pay transactions are by consenting adults.

104 guys were arrested in Long Island in a police sting. All solicited undercover cops who posted on Backpage.

The headline below this one on the linked site screamed about the sudden murder increase in NYC.

Really put things in perspective for everyone, especially the insistence by The Authorities what a serious terrible issue prostitution was and that must be stamped out and they were going to pursue it with vigor. Posting photos of "johns" and identifying each and every one is the way to go!

I actually support scraping the skin off hoodlum pimps, particularly those using underage girls, using a rusty paint scraper. However, with all the other issues facing society today, pissing away taxpayers money on this is so discusting, it makes me puke..

...sex for money.  The article said:

"When the johns arrived, they met an officer posing as a prostitute, and once money was offered for sex, they were arrested and charged."

Unless there was discussion by phone or email prior to the meeting and the crime was completed by the act of placing the envelope on a table, I don't see how all the arrests were valid.  Of course, for those arrested, it's little comfort if they're not convicted.  The arrest alone is damage enough.

Just one more reason to avoid Backpage and stick to well-reviewed TER providers.

And by effective, I don't even mean ending sex for hire as LE claims their goal is.

Rather, this is all politics and currying favor with certain political groups who get their rocks off by seeing people humiliated in the name of the good.

It's enough to make one retch when you think of it.

All these guys will end up copping a plea and getting a small fine and court costs, nothing more.

The damage to their personal lives will far outweigh the dough.
