Hello Everyone! These are not my writings, but things I've come across, on the internet or in books, that have intrigued me. Enjoy! :)

"Here’s to the older man. The original. The nonconformist. The peacemaker. The square peg that makes round holes seem inferior. The one whose years have distilled his features like a barrel-aged bourbon. The one who life has taught to see things realistically. He makes his own rules, and he has no need for status quo. You can quote him, disrespect him, admire or insult him. The only thing you can’t do is be unaffected by him because he’s found his authenticity. His character has been chiselled by time. He challenges us to move forward, and while some may see him as nothing more than aged, I see experience because men who are old enough to lose their delusions are the ones who make me see life more accurately.

Here’s to the older man, not purely because he’s lost his immaturity, but because I am capable of sheer shallowness. There is a part of me that wants to look, to objectify, to consume. A man without age lacks charisma. His presence doesn’t scream ‘confidence’—not the kind that comes from humility. He can hold my gaze without flinching even at times when others find me intimidating. Here’s to the man whose features have been sculpted by time, because I’m not all profundity. I want to be attracted to a face that is affected by a lifetime of smiles and sadness. I want a spatter of grey, a few crow’s feet. I want someone who is all man.

Here’s to the older man. The one who’s not intimidated by being alone. The suave one who wears real cufflinks and mechanical chronographs. He listens to vinyl and has left pretension behind years ago. I’m not an age player. I don’t have daddy fantasies, and I don’t need a new father to re-experience my childhood. What I want is masculinity and skill. I want sophistication. Most specifically, I want a man who moves in a certain way. An older man has lost his ostentation. His movements are unaffected and fluid because he doesn’t feel the need to assert his masculinity.

Here’s to the older man. He's in command. His depth lets him objectify me with a level of skill that makes me dissolve. He spends Sundays preparing lunch and reading the papers instead of at the gym. He remembers a history that I love being challenged by. Here's to the one who doesn't rebel for the sake of being different, but because he knows better. He's let go of fairy tales and found real joy. Here's to the one who takes me on journeys through rock and jazz that comes from days when music had real grit. He remembers what merit is, what books were like when the world still knew how to read more than 500 words at a time. Here’s to the older man because years might eventually steal his beauty, but they will always make him more. Here's to the older man because the people who have lived more life. live better."

ps: There is nothing sexier than a mature man, who knows what he wants and What He desires........

and very flattering to us old codgers.

Thank you for the thought!

Thank you for sharing.  When I become mature, I will appreciate these sentiments.  Oh ok, in full disclosure I suppose I'm one of those so-called mature gents myself.  Well, more accurately I would say I'm immature (uh, I mean young) in spirit but mature in body.  I hope that is the best of both worlds.  I am still deciding what I want to be when I grow up after all.  LOL.

I would return the compliment by thanking all of the lovely ladies who appreciate us mature gents.  It has been a great comfort to body and soul to be able to spend some quality time with the fairer sex.  Whether our ages are similar or vastly different it has always been a wonderful challenge to make that special connection with someone.  And often times laughing at ourselves is half the fun when we share our war stories with our lady friends.

I think the one thing that age does give you is the ability to filter life through a perspective of time.  It really does help you to appreciate all of the important people and events around you.  Always remember to tell those folks in your life that mean something to you just how special they are.  Not only does it keep you humble, thankful, and grounded - it is also just a nice thing to do.

Thank you for such a nice post.  Young lady.
Now I really do sound old...  ;-
