best hotels that are close to train stations? recommendations and which station goes from nyc to boston?

but if you go to the Back Bay Station, that will leave you off in Copley Square which has at least a half dozen major four star hotels to choose from, and a few 3 star as well

First, for the safety of all, can we refrain from being too specific on the board? Let's welome Trinity and iffer more specific suggestions with PMs. There we can be as explicit as would like, even naming hotels.

Second, Trinity, you may want to consider whether you're going to stay in Boston or in the suburbs, known as the 128 Beltway. Both are very popular areas. The trains stops along the Beltway where I believe you can access shuttles to the hotels or you can go directly into downtown Boston and find a lot of higher end hotels in the area surrounding South Station, the endpoint of Amtrak in Boston.

Welcome.

we're not welcoming you to Boston, but some recent posts have been so specific, they mentioned hotels by name (a nono), the only thing that was left out was the room number LOL.

I hope this trip makes you want to return again because you sound fantastic

Check the Amtrak website for the train location and then do a GOOGLE search around that address.

I'm not trying to be rude but it's not hard to find a convenient hotel in any city. I've been able to navigate in every city I've visited for the first time.

These constant posts about hotels scream "LE look for me".

I'm just saying!!

When coming from NY, the first stop after Providence is at Rte 128, which is the Boston suburbs.  The next stop is Back Bay and the last one is South Station. Lots of hotels within walking distance of the last two stops in the city. Not so much at Rte 128.

Also, most uber rides in and around Boston are somewhat minimal, from the train stops

Google isn't always the best way to search, but in Boston, entering the major stations "Back Bay Station, Boston, MA" or "South Station, Boston, MA" and then "Nearby" "Hotels" does give some very good choices. Don't ignore the little red dots, either.

A few days ago, I replied to Sasha's post that from Back Bay Station, it is easier and faster to WALK to a couple of nearby hotels than to take a cab (as long as you only have one or two wheeled suitcases)! That might not be obvious from Google Maps.

Here's the Boston Neighborhood Map. Copley Square is a smaller area within the big yellow Back Bay area and Back Bay Station itself is spitting distance - 2 blocks - from Copley Square plaza
