Even though I don't think The Girlfriend Experience on Starz is very good (or accurate), I'll stick with it to the end. Last night's episode took the cake. A client's wife calls the main character. Instead of threatening her, she offers $10 grand, then $20 grand, to leave her husband alone. Has this EVER happened to ANYONE? A threat to expose the escort or call the cops, yes. But this? I don't think so.

I have been contacted by a SO before. Usually I ignore messages like that, as it is not always clear who's SO it is. It's best not to respond to protect your clients privacy, even with that much $ on the line
When the wife contacts our escort, the wife offers the payoff by check. Our escort says she only deals in cash. So next we see the wife meeting the escort in a public place and hands her an envelope. WTF!!!!!
What girl in her right mind would walk into a situation like that?? Let's count how many different ways this can go soooo bad.
1.The wife makes a big public scene.
2. The wife comes with the cops
3. The cops come by themselves.
4. Wife comes in with a couple of thugs who beats the shit out of the escort.
5. Our escort washes up dead somewhere.
Do the writers know ANYTHING about this business?
I don't think that accepting cash to NOT see her husband is actually a crime. But there's definitely a lot things that could go wrong there.
The provider was new, and I only saw her once as an incall. She was working
with a small local "agency" (that obviously didn't last long), and the agency "madam" gave my personal phone number to the provider, who put it in her personal phone (WTF!!!).
Her SO obviously figured out what his girl was up to. He must have been got her unsecured phone and started calling all the numbers.
i pick up the phone and this guy threatens to call the cops on me. I asked him why, and he rants and raves about what his girl is doing. I denied knowing what he was talking about, and then he breaks down and starts crying to me about how he loved her, and blah...blah:..blah.
(I found out later that he went to his her civvie place employment and outed her, and she got fired. I guess he didn't love her too much.
If you're going to write a story, you have to write about something you know, or call it a fantasy story.
They can't claim that this is "GFE". All any writer can claim to this industry is their own experience, including experience from their own personal perspective. I'm not going to see things the same as the person next to me, even with the same rates, screening info needed, time minimums, etc etc.
There are so many ways people do this, including lots of media, (me,) or little to no media, price points, volume, facility, and - wait for it - part of the world! It's going to be different even in Chicago than it is in North Carolina.
You just can't wrap this into one bubble. Same with art. That's like a pop artist trying to write true country. You just can't--- oh wait. The media changed that up too lol!
The escort's actions didn't seem nearly as dumb to me as the wife's. Has she considered that there are other escorts in the world and how soon she'll be having to come up with another $20g to pay off the next one that her husband pursues??
If this was real life, he wouldn't repeat because his balls would be in her purse.
However, no human being could balance law school plus an internship in a high powered law firm with escorting.l
