The night was filled with stars. The kind you can't find in a major city.

The sea lions were snoring and the wind was felt just as gentle as the waves were heard caressing the pier.  

Cindy lit her cigarette and reveled in the spirals of smoke that danced within her. She blinked in amazement and appreciation of the world that existed before herself. Savoring every sound as she released in exhalation the decay of each drag.

Cindy noticed a gentleman in a trench coat walking toward the end the pier, the orange cinders of his cigarette more apparent than his face. She stayed within herself, maintaining a confidence more than apparent continually inhaling the familiar. The cigarette much like a baby sucking its thumb in anxiety. Her safety blanket and the one thing that kept her hands out of her pocket.  

She was lost in thought until a slight force brought her back to reality. The man from the end of the pier had made his way toward her and had touched her shoulder. She looked up at his face. A face on a head that looked down on her tiny frame and stature. She had the look of a deer caught in the headlights. The beauty only found in a second of alarmed existence.

He had no idea what to say as she turned to him. He had no idea he was walking toward her exotic beauty until he was looking into her eyes. "A second that can last an eternity is the essence of life", he thought, "if only I could exist here forever; in the puget sound of harmony, where eternity is felt even just for a second".

Lost in his gaze and the rarity of this moment, like a meteor crashing against the atmosphere of this gentle Earth, two universes collapsed into each other exploding. Giving in, and losing all sight of things. Surrendering to things against normalities and living as if no tomorrow were promised.  

Lips crashing into each other like waves against the stiff pier. Unmoving but moving little by little succumbing to nature's slight of hand.  

She began to unbutton his trench coat....
