Just wondering if you all who have been involved in the hobby could give some advice on avoiding the police, bad providers or any other shitty situations. I've never gone to a provider before and I guess i'm a little nervous about the situation.
Take some time to read at least several pages of the Newbie forum, and I also suggest that you obtain a VIP membership so that you can read reviews in their entirety and communicate backchannel with other TER members.
Try searching the Newbie forum for topics that interest you, and you will likely find that many discussion threads already exist.
Both the TER discussion boards and TER reviews contain a multitude of information designed to assist you in making good hobby decisions.

Get a VIP membership, and do your research on the ladies in your area. To start out, stick with the well-reviewed ladies. With them, Uncle Leo is less likely to be a problem. Enjoy!
some brief do's and don't's:
Do see only well reviewed providers who have been around for at least a year and have reviews from several hobbyists who have reviewed several other providers.
Don't see any provider who discusses money or specifice sexual services with you either on the phone or in email. (And don't you do so either.)
Do be discreet. That means for example, don't have a cell phone conversation with her in a crowded hotel lobby where anyone and their brother-in-law can hear you. Dont waltz through the lobby with $300 stuffed in your hands. If you are getting the room carry a bag with you and don't ask for a discount because you only plan to use the room for an hour or so. You might as well just tell them that you're visiting a hooker.
Trust your guts. If they say something's not right, then they're probably right. For example, if there's a whole bunch of police cars parked out in front of her place; you may just want to cancel out.
Do not use Craig's List. It's become an LE tool.
Stay away from Asian Massage Parlors (AMPS) at least for now. They have been frequently raided as part of the illegal alien brouha.
Follow the above and you should be fine.
The next step is how to keep your hobbying secret from your wife (assuming you have one).
I think that is the bigger problem for most hobbyists but requires a lot more room than this post to discuss properly.
