Question for Samantha & Molly

First off, Thanks for the responses.

Based on what Sam said it seems like vanilla sex is bare minimal sex. If that is the case, couldn't a john change that.
Lets say for example if a provider does her thing - Kisses the john on the ears and then makes her way down for a BJ and then moves onto missionary and that is the session. I guess that is what you mean by vanilla sex. Can't a john change that? Lets say for example I was with a provider that did that, but I changed things up. I requested that we do other full service positions. I also request to spend more time pleasing her. Now I have changed things up a little bit. Would that no longer make the sex vanilla? The reason I ask this is because there is one provider that saw 6 guys(including me) that I backchannel with. Between the 6 of us - 3 said that she was vanilla and 3 said that she was a great time. I was the second guy to see her. The first guy claimed that the sex was all vanilla. I had a great time with her. Could it be because I took control of the session? I know what I like and I requested it. I don't let providers take control of the session, so maybe this is why I avoid the vanilla sessions? I'll be the first one to say that I would love a provider to be aggresive with me, but that never seems to happen. I always take control of the session. Maybe that is why I avoid the vanilla sessions.

I constantly hear people use the phrase "the sex was vanilla" when they are talking about certain providers. Many guys that I back-channel with use that phrase. I never asked what it meant because I would generally get a blow-by-blow review of the girl in question. I took it to mean that the sex was not that good.
I only recently started asking what this phrase meant. Now, I get responses that vanilla sex is mechanical sex. That response brings up my next question. What is mechanical sex? I do not exactly understand what vanilla sex or mechanical sex is. I guess this is a good thing that I do not know what it is..LOL! All the sex that I have had with providers, strippers and SO's has all been good sex. My only complaint with certain providers is that I was not attracted to them, so this did not make for a great expierence in my eyes. It was the providers appearance and not so much the performance that was my major complaint. Anyway, back to my question. Can someone explain to me what "Vanilla sex" is? Maybe give me an example when you felt that the sex was vanilla. I don't want any providers to be outed, so don't post any names.

Sex was Vanillia....
Plain and simple... mechanical."Vanilla World"
The term Vanilla come from's the Dom and Submissive....Fetish...
I know there is more....
That is my assumption...my 2 cents.
For the record I'm Not VANILLA!!!!!!

From what i understand, it means that sex was plain and uniform like a vanilla ice cream. But that doesn't necessarily mean its bad or boring. When you go to Ben and Jerrys and you see all the different flavors available, you're like thinking to yourself what to get as some combinations are just to strange or they might not be that flavorful, so you opt for vanilla, the can't miss flavor, plain and simple but can't miss.  It's like you can't go wrong with vanilla but you don't get that special extra.

with a cherry on top.
make that 2 cherries, my friend.

Now that's what I call the opposite of vanilla.

Baddabing!

it's pretty much like Molly said. I initially heard the term when I used to see a Dom in my private life and hung out in the Dom/sub chat rooms. Anything that wasn't a little "racier" was considered vanilla. Like just your basic missionarry marital sex, not that all married couples have vanilla sex many many dont. It's usually just the bare minimum to be able to collect on a session. Kind of like when your in a relationship for a while and you can predict before it happens that his/her next move it. You know like he starts out nuzzling my ear, spends 20 seconds on each nipple, then puts it in and has an orgasm and its over. On the reverse tip I'd think it would be like a provider having you undress lie down, nuzzle your neck for 5 seconds, nuzzle your chest for 5 more, suck your dick long enough to get it hard the on goes a baggy and she either jumps on or usually insists on missionarry. And them bang you cum, nothing exciting, nothing to tell your buddies about, the bare minimum. just my take on it. Like Molly said we used to call anything "straightlaced" vanilla but I think when guys post it here they mean a bit more like what I posted. Dom/sub's when they use it they mean people that aren't involved in "the life"
my 2 nickles.

It says lacking distinction, plain, ordinary.

That sums it up very well.
