Dear Siobhan,
I'm afraid I'm going to disappoint you now. While I think all your questions are very valid, I am not really sure this is the right forum for these answers. Your question belongs more on the general discussion board, or better yet, the "Providers Only" board. You can also address the regional board where you will work. It will give you an opportunity to perhaps establish relationships with other providers - THIS IS A REALLY CRUCIAL TIP, by the way - and it will also give you a chance to connect with hobbyists in your area.

I will say this: from what I have found, there are some general provider issues that apply almost in every city, and if you get in touch with some kindly providers out of this board, I'm sure you will get help. Many issues, due to the various modi operandi employed, however, are more city-by-city based. For instance, in Los Angeles, the majority of providers use their own vehicles for transportation. That in itself carries a whole set of conditions. To give an example: should you valet park in a hotel or park somewhere else, in case you need to exit the hotel quickly? What happens if you get stopped by the police and you have a big wad of cash in your purse, possible drugs, etc. in your car? I'm just making an extreme type of scenario here, but it has happened [believe me on this one.]

Now in NYC, this probably would not apply to the same extent. You'd either have a driver (another very particular issue) or go by taxi to your appointments. Then we have the monumental issue of incalls. How is the building configured? Are you in your own home? If it's LA, chances are this may be the case. If it's NYC, maybe you're in an apartment. Is there a building super or reception for the client to pass by? These are just examples, and there are a plethora of other things to consider.

And then the screening issues. Oftentimes, I have observed that each provider has her preferred screening methods. To go through them here is not really an appropriate forum. This board is more directed toward issues that carry emotional weight. Not that your's doesn't - you are nervous, of course - but you are not asking how to deal with your emotions, you are asking for practical tips and work related matters, which could be chapters out of "The Escort Manual."

At this time, without performing some "electronic withdrawals" from this thread, I would respectfully ask hobbyists and providers who feel inclined to respond to Siobhan06: Please have her message you privately. Her question is very valid, but it belongs on another board.

Good luck,
the Love Goddess

I posted some questions on a different board, and was advised to post here....aka, the love goddess knows.
I'm a (soon to be) provider, and i have my first session in just a few short days. I wouldn't be a normal human being if i weren't nervous. very excited? absolutely but still nervous. can you run some things by me that i might not know? what gentlemen prefer? extra screening tips (i have done a bit so far, but who knows what i'm missing), or just ANYTHING! thank you so very much, and i appreciate all the advice that i have and have yet to recieve. thanks!

I remember being new and my first time and being fearful of all sorts of things. I remember it like it was yesterday even though it was nearly four years ago. I would love to help you. I've never been busted, hurt, raped, or anything and it's because of my screening. I never waiver, no matter the circumstances. There have been times I've cancelled appointments with gentlemen even though they screened well, just because my gut told me something wasn't right.

So, if you'd like some help or hints or would just like to talk, I'd be more than happy to help you in any way that I can! I do hope to hear from you.

Love,

Andi

Siobhan amd Love Goddess,

I suspect it was my reply to Siobhan's post on the National Board that led her to post her question here as well.  That thread and the majority of my reply are confined to the biz aspects of the question.  My suggestion to post here with the Love Goddess was done so to give Siobhan a glimpse into the emotional pro/con  side of her decision although I agree that she did not explicity ask for that angle of advice.  I did mention that from this perspective she might hear things that she would not prefer to hear.  In any case when reading LG's reply and LG's larger post request above, I do see how my suggestion could result in this board getting bogged down in discussion that is not best suited for here.

Please know that my intentions were pure and I had hoped that Siobhan would benefit from responses that steered from the business side to the human nature side.  As such Siobhan and Love Goddess ,I apologize for the misdirection.

Contact SWAG, Sex Workers Assistance Guide at the URL below.  They are an invaluable resource for a person who is contemplating a career as a provider.

The Providers Only board could be a good resource, but you need to have three reviews already, as I understand it, in order to access that board.

I wish you the best as you start out.

I am indebted to the wonderful Beverly Fisher for the above info.

I am always willing to offer help to keep us all safer.
