That Admin response was pretty awesome..
I could understand sectioning off New York to the Burroughs / Long Island and Uptate,, but Minnesota getting divided like that just doesnt make any sense

There is a new search option for Minneapolis, but the Minnesota option is still there too.  This kinda messes up my searches.  Anybody have the same problem, or am I doing something wrong?  Does searching by Minnesota INCLUDE or EXCLUDE the Minneapolis providers?

I think it messes things up royally!  It looks like it includes only reviews where minneapolis is specifically named as the location.  Any suburb, names that don't say Mpls (e.g. I saw a "warehouse district" location listed under the Minnesota option and not Mpls) get excluded from the minneapolis search.

Does anyone know how this works in other major metropolitan areas?  Seems like someone ought to be able to program all the near suburbs into a "Twin Cities"  seach option.

I will say it would be nice to have locations more than an hour outside of the twin cities fall under a separate search list, but I have managed with the way it was for a long time now.

That sucks! I hope that they switch it back, i.e., get rid of the "Minneapolis" option. Searching under "Minnesota" has worked fine and it's not that difficult to figure out who's where. A visitor doing a "Minnesota" search would miss many fine providers that are listed under "Minneapolis" and visa versa.

This "feature" really BLOWS.  I have to check BOTH sites because their are providers I KNOW are reviewed but do not appear on one site or the other.  And funny thing is- some of these providers work in the same location!  Piss-poor QA testing and release by TER.  They should switch it back until it is fixed.

The do allow ranges on things like ages but it would be easy to allow Minnesota and Minneapolis. But including multiple options on non-continuous variable is not hard to program.

They should allow simultaneous searches multiple races, multiple body builds.
Just like the providers can offer more than one city, the searchers should be allowed to search multiple locations.

Under the 1st and 2nd page of new reviews for MINNEAPOLIS...

    - Hopkins comes up.
    - Tyson's Corner (where the fuck is that!)

Under the 1st and 2nd page of new reviews for MINNESOTA...

    - Adriana in Minneapolis
    - Stassi in Uptown
    - Jen in Uptown
    - Victoria Breckin in Warehouse District
    - Cherry DT Building
    - Marty in Uptown
    - Amore in Downtow

.. if someone could earn a whole bunch of free VIP time throwing Problem reports at each of the Provider Profiles that is misfiled under the new system.

Maybe make lemonade?

I just posted a suggestion on the Suggestion and Policy Board that they use "Twin Cities" as the name of the small area they are carving out of Minnesota. As wadzilla pointed out, that is what it was originally called. Using"Twin Cities" should help to make clear the sub-area includes Minneapolis, St. Paul, and surrounding suburbs. I understand the unhappiness about the way TER is changing things, but it seems like that decision has been made, in which case it behooves us to help make the changes work as well as possible.

If you agree with that position, a reply to my post in Suggestion and Policy lending the weight of your opinion to mine would probably be helpful. Or if you disagree, it may be that TER is more likely to pay attention to a discussion on that Board than here.

The crack staff at TER is working on the problem as we speak...

Rolling it back should not be much more difficult than rolling it out was.

... such as:

update provider_profile set primary_location = "Minnesota" where primary_location = "Minneapolis";

However, there's other changes e.g. drop down lists that would need to be backed out also.  Still, I don't think it would be too difficult or time-consuming to do it.

The Minneapolis St. Paul Metropolitan Statistical Area and St. Cloud, Mankato, Redwing Fairbault, Northfield, Hutchison all of which are within an hour of Minneapolis includes 85% of Minnesota's population and nearly all of the activity relevant to this Board

It's good to add features but this change makes little sense. Before you could just search under MN and less than 5% of results were outside the metro area (Duluth,  Rochester,  etc.).

Just searching Minneapolis limits you to 25% of the metro area. It's similar to searching by area code - might have been helpful 20 years ago but nowadays? Unnecessarily limiting.

Roll it back,  please and instead focus on better search options (a range of body types and features instead of the limiting 'pick one from each'  format we have now)
