Situational ethics

It's The Moral Melee, this activity. Sidestepping the ethical and moral (and loyalty) reaches can and does have life altering consequences.

Moral Relativism 'differences in moral judgements across people and cultures' allow us to be subjective in our decision making. The  - if no one knows, is it wrong - thinking.

Really not imposing anything here. Just do wrestle with it. Less confronted by it now.

This may be of interest, maybe not.  I hadn't browsed this thread for a while so I just did so, finding much of interest and relevance, including the disgraceful postings by the guy who justified cuckolding a wounded vet by citing US atrocities; PDAs, etc.  All of them involved ethical issues in one way or another, and it brought to mind "situational ethics," a school of philosophy you don't hear much about these days but I think is still very relevant.  Here's the wikipedia link:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Situational_ethics.

Joe Fletcher of Harvard Theological seminary, sort of the godfather of this approach, died years ago but he was a really interesting guy and I had some keen discussions with him.  I'm not proselytizing for his guidelines -- I'm an atheist -- but I think his approach has much to recommend it.  If the above link doesn't work, just check out "situational ethics" for what it's worth.   Hobbying is great fun but yes, it certainly has its ethical aspects, as these threads amply demonstrate.
