Meet & Greet: What's it like?

In my area the two I attend are best described as a cocktail party. The host has rented a large private place for a lot of people to mix and mingle talking and getting to know one another. You spend time catching up with those you have met before and having conversations with those you are meeting for the first time. There is a cash bar and food from a buffet. The food can be simple finger food to more elaborate selections. There might be a theme such as Halloween for the Oct M&G or Valentines for the February. Attire is usually business casual. Though dressing for the occasion (Halloween, Valentines) is often encouraged it isn't necessary. There is usually music.

There is a "door charge" for the gentlemen attending. It's never been more than $50 in my experience. You are screened by the host. No one attends without being screened. The screening is much like the screening a provider would do when you have made contact for an appointment. Other than the screening there are no "hoops" to being accepted. Discretion is still the rule.

These events are an excellent opportunity to meet providers you have interest in seeing. It's also a good place for back channel info gathering about them. There is the additional benefit of seeing the ladies sans the blurred faces in their photos.

There is no business conducted on the premises. There is no place on site for a session to take place. The purpose is to Meet, have fun with like minded people, and add (or subtract) from you "wanna see" list. There is nothing to prevent you from arranging for take out after the event.

Since I began attending the M&G's in my area I have not had a session with a provider I haven't actually met and talked with at some length. This for me is the biggest benefit though I do enjoy the setting and conversing with everyone.

I hope this is helpful. I also hope others will chime in as I keep thinking I've left something out. It's important to remember this is my experience in my area. I know others may do things differently.

I have only recently thought about meet and greets; not sure they are for me. Can someone describe to me a typical meet and greet? Plus, I know that someone such as me has to be verified, but what other hoops (if any) does one have to pass through to partake in such a party?

IS it difficult to be invited to a meet and greet? What qualifies one to be invited?

Keep checking this board and your regional board for announcements of M&G around you. Follow the instructions for contacting the host and inquire what you need to do to qualify. If there are no instructions try sending a PM to the poster of the announcement and ask.

(Just read all the M&G announcements that are on the board now. See if any have instructions for how to make contact and what's required. You should get some idea of how things work.)

My first was held by an agency I had used so my screening was already done. I met the host of the other M&G at the agency M&G. When I made contact to attend his M&G I reminded him of the meeting and provided my screening info.

I'm glad to know that a meet and greet is more like a cocktail party and not something wild and crazy; wouldn't be into that. Thanks for the help.

Come down the Warm Sunny South Florida and enjoy an early spring at the beach.  We are having a M&G March 2nd.
