I'm certainly not a lady but from the sounds of it, it just doesnt sound good and can be a complete setup. I wouldn't touch this with a ten foot poll.

It's a fraud, don't trust him.

It's a scam. I remember seeing a thread about a simular incident a couple of years back.

The link is about how the scam works.

Basically, they are giving you a non-cash payment and requesting
cash back.  The cashier's check throws people off because a
bank will usually make funds available on the check on the same
day.

Doesn't make a difference.  Eventually (within a few days) they
will try to collect the money from the issueing bank and it will
bounce.

Same as a personal check except instead the bank makes the funds
available to you the same day.

I had this guy send me a Cashiers check. He said he was from England and made an excuse that he could not make  our date and that if I could cash it and send him Half back, I could keep the remainder amount for my time.
Well I cashed it but did not send any money to him because I knew it sounded way to out there. He called me every day trying to get me to send my own money to him till the check  cleared.  Well around 1 1/2 weeks later the check came back a fake. It will clear but sometimes the banks cannot tell that it is a fake for up to 6 mons. later and if you spend that money you are liable. There is no way that you can get them to pay it back and the bank will take that amount out of your account as soon as they find out it is fake without even giving you a warning.
So watch out. He played me saying that his friends were in a car crash and he needed the money back immediatley. Just stay on guard. If it is too good to be true it is. Oh also he sent 2000 more than what my rate what.
If you look up cashier check or money order scams on google you will be surprised at what you fine.
Be on your toes.
Kisses to all,
January

You shouldn't have to wait six months to see if anything is
fake.  There are definite rules for each type of instruemnt -
check, cashier's check, money order, etc - and the bank should
be able to tell you what the outer time limit is to cash the
instrument at the other bank.

They should also tell you the fee that they may charge you if
the instrument bounces.

AAAH , Something for nothing , its the american way . You CAN"T be serious .

That is similar to one I got last week. The spelling is about as good. too. And there is that five thousand dollar figure again. I noticed another common thread in the messages and  the phone call I received is the ploy to 'hurry up". Here is the email- with name left blank, of course.
"Hi baby am blank by name i satys in canada i am coming to us for my goods so i will like to have a nice time with you for two daysbefore the pick up of my goods so i will like you to tell me your last price so that i can pay you the money in check so kindly tell me the last price and send your pics so that i can see you in large scale pics i will expect your immediate reply very soon"
What flying saucer did he fall out of???
