I always get off at 128. Closer to work.
My bad.

I was wondering what's the popular area for providers that's public trans friendly & hobby traffic... Going into new areas without knowing anyone I'm scared... In usual touring I visit cities I know someone in like real civie friends or an ATF....  Please Any suggestions... Also what sites are utilized by Boston hobbyists.... I know that the Acela from DC to Boston is a short trip....

Thank you

Taxis are available at the airport and in downtown Boston; also near major hotels. Back Bay is probably the friendliest area for folks without a personal car.

From my perspective, there are two good options at this point. You can walk or cab over to the Seaport district where there are good restaurants and new (expensive) hotels. But less transportation options. Or you could hop the redline inbound to Park Street and head west a block or two into Back Bay with lots of classy (expensive) hotels. More high end shopping options in BackBay. It's often faster to walk than deal with the slow green line trolleys on short stops.

You hear most guys talk Back Bay here. You can go most places on the red and green lines. Personally I tend more towards Seaport area in my "real" life hangouts as my favorite bars are over there and shopping is something I avoid. And I'm attracted to ocean.

Boston is a very safe city. Much safer than most in the U.S. You can't really stumble into a "bad" area as a tourist.  With real estate as insane as it is, Dorchester and Southie have gone all gentrified. Roxbury is half way there. And Mattapan, wedged between affluent Milton on end and newly gentrified Dorchester on the other can't be far behind.

That said, I find a flight from DC to Boston in JetBlue or Southwest significantly faster and cheaper than Acela.....which makes me wonder about Amtrak sometimes.

August-early October is a wonderful weather time to visit.

I'm pretty sure that most (if not all) Amtrak's from DC (and northward stops), including the Acelas, also stop at Back Bay Station.  They call it "Back Bay Station" because it's in Back Bay.  You pretty much walk half a block to a couple of popular hotels.  And there are many more within 2-3 blocks, but you can always cab-it in the hot, muggy weather.

My bad.

Below, I mistakenly said that Seaport was part of the "Downtown Waterfront."  My bad.  It's the South Boston Waterfront area (with the Convention Center and such)

If you book far enough in advance, round trip DC/Boston flights are only 150-200, Acela charges a bit more than that

I recently posted the neighborhoods map.  You can see Back Bay (yellow) and Dryver mentioned Seaport which is a part of Downtown Waterfront (yellow).  Copley Square is in Back Bay.  A lot of people, even Bostonians, disagree about exact boundaries and names and sub-names.

I go back into academic mode after Labor Day so can't make the M&G ....   I'm horrible at advanced advertising... I just go on a whim, that's why I travel to cities where there's an ATF ..... So if the trips a fail then at least my ATF made up for it... 😬😬😬😬😬.... I'm in DC right now so I'm trying to decide if I should venture into unknown territory aka Boston & take my chances or head to a state with ATFs already present... Lol ....  I've never been to a M&G & kind of weary of them... Lol
