He had his digital hooked up to a light display, and the umbrellas set up over the back drop to reflect the lighting.
Having watched a few pornos in my day, I suggested most of the positions and angles that we did. It's hard work, you have to stay "up" and motivated(not a problem with this gal)and it's time consuming. $300 to $500 average?, not unless you are a big name star, many of the ladies are working for 400-500 range per scene and the guys working for $100 per scene, but this is usually a part time gig to supplement their income. You can't pay the talent too much, many of these low end videos only have a budget of $10,000.00 or less.

Industry standard for girls is $700-800 for b-g and $1,000-1,200 for b-g with anal (1,500+ for dp or GB). From what I've heard many men do only make $100-$300 per scene and that the top guys are the ones making $500+, but I was told that some guys not only double book, but triple book on some days.

While there might be 20 or more people at the location, are all 20 of them hanging around while the scenes are shot? I would think that the makeup girl would be doing her thing, the still photog's would be outside shooting the other talent between scenes, the crew that wasn't involved would be at the catering table stuffing their face on free food, etc., so that there doesn't necessarily have to be a lot of people hanging around while the talent was doing the deed...
I remember on the audio commentary on the All Star DVD they were talking about how Bonita Saint got pissed off when Rocki Roads (the star of the film) wandered onto the set when Bonita was shooting her scene, and the two got into a cat fight about it.
I have seen 15 to 20 people in at one time watching a great scene between Nina Hartly and Tiffany Mynx. Other times, they might not be in all be in the same room at one time, but I have been at locations where the house was rented and people were coming in and out of the room a lot.
My point wasn't about a specific number of people as much as the distractions on the set. It's not as easy as it looks.
