part of my company's work is designing Graphic interfaces for control systems.    my programmers sometimes come up with very slick designs but they are designing for other programmers, not the non tech end user.    so its easy for a site or control panel design to look modern and current but at the same time tough for the average user to follow.     i think the overall design and layout is ok they just need to change the font and background to the text to make it easier to read.   the rest will be a matter of getting used to a new approach.

its very slick but for us over 50 the font is very hard to read even on my 24 inch monitor

I agree!  I like the general format of the new site, but the white background and the very light gray colored lines are difficult to differentiate when reading conversations.  Instead of gray, they should use black and bold type to make them easier to see.  I have a feeling that there will be an increase in the number of people replying to the wrong person in the longer threads if it stays like this. LOL

On any browser you should be able to hit ctrl+ or ctrl- (that is, pressing the "control" key and the + or - keys simultaneously) to change the font size.

If you're a Google Chrome user, you can get an addon called "DeLuminate" that will allow you to invert the colors on a webpage and additionally adjust contrast.

i like TER the way it is, easy to use, yea the new BETA site looks all shiny and fancy but not as easy to follow IMO

I likey shiny and fancy :)
I have to admit at first I was saying what the heck...but quickly was zipping my way around.

Although I have only been playing on your playground for a few months so I did not have an attachment much to the original board version so my transition might have been easier.

:)

I like the old style,  it is a lot easier to read.  No matter what system I use though,  you still are a cutie CharleneLove !!

It is a one step forward two steps back kinda change.

Sorry but I don't like the new site either. I like the ease of the present site for finding information and the new site appears too slick and cumbersome.

I tried the BETA version a few weeks back.  As w/some of the posters, I DO NOT like the BETA version whatsoever.  The message boards on the BETA version are very difficult to read esp the threads w/many answers on it.  To me (and I have my degrees in Computer Information), they are the worst I've ever seen so either scrap the current BETA version and redo it or scrap it altogether.

I can't find anything. Its a mess. I dont like the way it is organized. If its not broke dont fix it

.. Each post should start with a subject line and then followed by the poster's handle on the same line or underneath the subject line.

Each post should be time and date stamped and on the same line as the subject line. Linear thinkers relate to time and date  but not so much to a post showing it was posted "two days ago" or "five days ago" or whatever.

I don't want to see all of the following posts displayed when I read a selected post. I want to select to read any post individually.

There's something really 'off' about the whole design of the discussion boards but I can't really place what it is. I find that it really strains my eyes to read them.

Each original post in a thread is lightly shaded to show that it's a new thread. In spite of that, it's hard to tell when one thread starts, it seems to just blend in with the surrounding posts. The shading of a new thread should display more of a contrast to make it stand out.

I'm often getting an 'internal server error' when switching between pages on a board, e.g. if I'm on page 4 of an Ad Board and want to switch to page 3, I get the 'internal server error' page and I have to reload the ad board and reselect the page I want.

I like the new Provider Profile page where the lady's rate is shown on the left side near the top so no scrolling needed to see the rate.

I like that there's a 'Like' button on each individual review so you can mark a review to show that you've already read it.

I thought at first that it'd just be a matter of getting used to this format but with the issues I've listed, I don't think so. This Beta version of the discussion boards is not an improvement over the previous version but just the opposite.
