Very correct SR.  For the record, there are no remaining licenses available in Pahrump.  There is (or at least was) another brothel in Nye county (Beatty) for sale, and one could possibly be purchased and moved, but the folks of Pahrump would take some serious sweet-talking before that happened.

Hey, anybody got any info on a brothel that Heidi Fleiss is setting up outside of Vegas? The building or compound is supposed to be of a Washington, DC setting.  I heard about it on NPR this morning.  Fact or fiction?

Rodeo,

In order to obtain a brothel license in the State of Nevada, the principals must pass a background check. Since Ms. Fleiss is (unfortunately) a convicted felon, she would not be eligible to be involved in any way in such an endeavor.

I heard a rumor from someone very much in the know that she had looked into one of the brothels, but left without making an offer.  And SR, you are correct that she could not be a principal in the deal due to her legal past.

That brothel is for sale, but probably not to HF.

There's a publicly traded aussie brothel company that was hooking up with Heidi to open a new brothel near Pahrump.  Haven't heard much about it.  There's more press about the Chicken Ranch being put up for sale and the Kingdom Gentlemens Club with the crass billboards in that part of Nye county.

Bob

I think every time when prostitution is involved they throw around Heidi Fleisse's name to make headlines and publicity.......as I also know a convicted felon,  would not be eligible to be involved in any way in such an endeavor....

or maybe they changed the law and I haven't heard about it .

I guess it is fiction .

Cindy,

I think what Quzi said is closest to what actually happened. From what I heard on the LPIN-related message boards, an Australian group DID inquire about obtaining a brothel licence in Nye county earlier this year. I believe they may have retained Ms. Fleiss as a consultant, but knew that she couldn't be involved if they were to move forward and actually obtain a license (so no, the laws haven't changed). However, I'm not sure if there is another unused license available in that county (not counting the fact that the Chicken Ranch is for sale - that happened after this story about the Aussies broke) other than, perhaps one of Joe Richards', and he still appears to want to build another bordello of his own on Homestead Road near the CR & Sheri's. Given the fact that public sentiment in Pahrump appears to be that the status quo is OK, but another brothel would be one too many, I think any group (local or otherwise) looking to start another there will face an uphill battle.

Best regards,
