For a combination of reasons, I've been on hiatus from the hobby for quite some time.  Before then, I was having a blast being a part of it.  I attended quite a few M&G's, and met some of Chicago's favorites.  Good times!  

So what did I miss?  Anything new hobby-related I should be aware of, as far as verification and such are concerned?  I'm sure some providers I remember retired by now.  Any new favorites you care to recommend?  

Also, I'm sure M&G's would be a good way to break into the hobby again.  Where and when are they usually announced?

Welcome back to the hobby! We're in the process of planing a M&G either end of july or beginning of August. Planning on renting a mansion here in the city..party on Thursday, and orgy on Friday. Should be a hot time. I can't think of a better way to welcome you back to the hobby ;-)

Sounds good!  I think I want to start my return with an M&G, so this is a good opportunity; I can meet the Chicago favorites face-to-face this way.  My verification methods are still active.  I'll probably hold off on that Friday option; wouldn't want to burn up on the reentry ;).

Not to pinch on your post, but I was about to post something similar.  Due to real world changes I went into a bit of a hibernation but have always kept my eye on TER and got out a few times.  Just got VIP renewed and was dismayed to see I had PMs in from 2013 still unread.  Greets to all in the community and I hope to be more active in the coming months.
