Sadly, I don't know who is who in that mess about the shill. V has his point. I get shilled regularly, and although I am grateful to have such wonderful clients, I am a little sad that you well-know gents spent so much time and effort to get him all worked up when he just made a comment, that was just his opinion, in the first place. I have read so many comments from well-known gents and providers on this board pointing out that this is a GENERAL DISCUSSION board. Just as everyone has a right to repeat shill their favorite provider every week, HE has every right to voice his opinion about it as well. The fact that you guys jumped all over him just made me a little sad.
Seriously? What he said was NOT that big of a deal. I have seen SEVERAL of you gentlemen, and I KNOW that you would never behave that way with me, so why be that way to someone who ALSO probably wouldn't behave that way, either. He just voiced his opinion, and I didn't really feel like he did it rudely until he was bombarded with a ton of rude comments.

Her point was that this is a discussion board and everyone has a right to their opinion. Take a look at the number of "likes" for both opinions on the post below and you'll note that each has it's supporters. Without choosing sides I think the name calling and rude posts were the main target of her post and both side were guilty of that. We, members of this hobby, of all people should be tolerant do others. Why can't we allow differing opinions, why must we try to belittle or shout down other members for not agreeing with us? Are we really that closed minded as a group.
They're taking snow again so I'm going back into my cave. Grow up or bicker on, your choice.

Unfortunately sometimes it seems the fuel that runs this board is the lift that some people get when someone expresses his opinion on this forum and they happen to disagree. Remember everyone you don't have to read it if you don't like it. And on most issues there is no black and white.
Vostro could have expressed his opinion without the cheap shot. We do value the freedom to disagree on the board; that is everyone's right. But what is the point of the cheap comment?
Shilling is part of the weekly activity, disagreeing can be as well.....why take it to juvenile level?

This brings us back to this being a discussion board. This statement shows that you don't think every opinion should be welcome on this board. I do agree that that thread was taken to a juvenile level but it was done by many of you. Like the post or not, Vostro should have the right to his/her opinion without the mob mentality attacks that followed. That IMO is what took it to a juvenile level. If that one post would not have been attacked it would have just been one obscure post on this page with hundreds of others, the attacks highlighted it and brought it to the forefront.

1) It is a discussion board. And when you post on it you do have to accept that people may reply to disagree with you.
2) His post was hostile to the existence of the thread. Now, if a good case could be made that the thread was trouble (ex: it revealed personal information), that would be one things. That clearly doesn't apply here. We've got 25 threads on every page of this discussion board. No one should expect that all threads should be of interest to them. There are plenty that I find of no interest or may even be annoying personally for some reason. I just ignore them and read something else.
The assumption is that the "Vostro" comments were written by a hobbyist.

You are correct! We should not assume this is a Guy. We probably also should not assume that this entity is an actual participant in the hobby! And so we should not allow our ourselves to get all exercised by his/her comments.
This whole board keeps track of Credentials. Including how many reviews a lady has with what score and how many Reviews a gent posts and how many Whitelistings he has. There's a lot of code dedicated to tracking and reporting on Credentials.
So why do we allow someone who refuses to show their credentials get us all worked up? Maybe this is guy, maybe a gal. It could be Vostro hides his/her credentials because they are not really a participant in the hobby. It might also be that they have actually left a few shill posts of their own along the way!
In any case, the entity does not wish to be accountable in any way. We should value the opinions similarly.

JK! I can't say I honestly care who's who in this case & others like it. Another harmless putz to chuckle at or with. (which ever the preference)
I've learned over time to do my very best to refrain from speculating who the guilty party may be. Overtly anyway. It's been my experience that doing so frequently results in inaccurate info getting exchanged as well as exaggerated & innocent people getting hurt. So what starts out as an innocent "I think it's..." develops into malicious rumors that are most often untrue. I prefer not to be a party to that.
If you are attempting to imply that I use an alias, please correct your misguided thoughts.
I have previously discussed my lack of enthusiasm for "shill" threads using my name on The Erotic Review.
It simply does not make sense anymore (i.e., with only one alias name available) to use an alias identity.

I also fully understand the folly of foolish bickering — Twain said "Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference." My "general comment" on the discussion was, I feel, accurate. Some people choose to be disagreeable — and boost their ego by diminishing others. Sadly, it's not all that uncommon these days.
I'm glad that's not been your experience and it's admirable you felt the need to come to this defense (it doesn't seem to bother him) — but can you or anyone else help me understand how the term "White Knight" became synonymous with toadying behavior — or weakness? The definition I found was one "who defends or “comes to the rescue” of a provider who has been reviewed or spoken of poorly, regardless of whether the review or comments are accurate, aka White Knight."
Nothing I saw posted in either Friday's shill thread, or in minn4evr's discussion — fit that definition. "White Knight" seems to be used as a catch-all pejorative to describe anyone that brings more of themselves to the experience than their wallet. How'd that happen?

I think it is really just a term people use when they have nothing intelligent to say.
And it does feel good to be praised and appreciated by regulars as well as new clients (I get both as do the rest of us) ... Whether it be in the form of a public forum shill or a private message/statement to me.
I see nothing wrong with shilling providers and using any type of descriptive words ... I don't understand how that shows "weakness"

The problem come when the shill thread goes up it is soon followed by the anti-shill thread. Where the shill thread is filled with nothing but harmless complinents and some would say schoolboy crushes, the anti-shill thread is full of hostility and insults directed at those that shill. Why? Can't people like Vostco just let the shiller have their harmless fun and resist the urge to belittle and insult them? For crying out loud, this hobby is about spending time enjoying the company of wonderful, talented, beautiful, sensual, and sexy women. Enjoy your time and/or relationship with them in your own way and don't worry about how someone else does it.
