Last winter I emptied my parents home  (and moved my mother into an apartment).. My father taught at a well known medical school and was a small town doctor for 60 years. Their library alone held over 8000 books.. plus they had stuff from literally generations of family stored & kept.. horse tack for horses that died 50 years ago.. pictures of dogs that my grand parents had.. even a canvas covered canoe that my grandfather purchased for my mother about 1938.. chairs without seats.. photos of nameless babies delivered (he delivered over 7,000 babies) by my father and so on.. reading this story was like the process I went through but the subject was much different.. Great that the author did it.. but unsettling I would think.. I'm not sure it was creepy.. but to discover the secret thoughts of a parent would be odd.. I still remember finding my grandmothers vibrator.. My Grandfather had MS and was probably impotent.. she told me that it was for her "health". I was 7 or 8 and I still remember it..
