On July 20, 1969, as commander of the Apollo 11 lunar module, Neil Armstrong was the first person to set foot on the moon.

His well-known & remembered first words "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind," were televised back to Earth & heard by millions.

But just before he re-entered the lander, he made the remark "Good luck, Mr. Gorsky."

Most people at NASA thought it was a casual remark concerning some rival Soviet cosmonaut, & not much attention was paid to it.  Some however, remembered it & upon checking found no record of a Gorsky in either the American or Soviet space programs.

Several times over the years Armstrong was asked what the statement "Good luck, Mr. Gorsky," meant.  But Armstrong never answered...just smiled.

Finally in 1965, while answering questions follwing a speech in Tampa Bay, a reporter again brought up the same question.  This time Armstrong finally responded.

Mr. Gorsky had died, so Armstrong felt he could answer for the first time.

When he was a kid in 1938, one day he was playing ball with a friend in back yard.  His friend hit the ball into the neighbors' yard, with it landing near the open bedroom windows.  The neighbors were Mr. & Mrs. Gorsky.

As he was about to retrieve the ball, young Armstrong heard Mrs. Gorsky shouting at Mr. Gorsky.

"You want sex?!  You'll get sex when that kid next door walks on the moon!"
