It's extremely crowded, but it's the major industry event, and almost every pornstar is there. Great photo ops. Not necessarily a good place to hook up, since the ladies work the show during the day and have a lot of industry committments for the evenings, but you may have some good shots at getting contact info... and if you know some of the ladies, they can help you get them. And if you know the right people, you may be able to get into some of the after hours parties...
I'm definitely going this year.
The awards themselves are a waste of time and the convention is a mob scene...with that said, you may want to go a few days earlier like Tuesday and Wednesday when most of the women get there a little early to relax before the convention. They will figure on one or two appointments paying for some of the trip and hotel. Contact them in mid to late December and then confirm the week before.

There is also another adult industry show, Internex, that is running right before the AVN convention. It's a show for adult webmasters, and a lot of the girls also attend that show, which is no where near as crowded as AVN... it just doesn't have as many "A" list pornstars....
Well...like most awards shows, they have giveaways at every table and the gift at the AVN were egg vibrators. Oddly, most of them get left on the table so I took a few of them home to give as belated Xmas gifts to some of the providers I knew. On a side note, I would've taken as many as I could cart given they were just trash for those the clean up crew didn't take but I knew there was no way I was gonna' be hauled out of line at the security check point flying out of town since it would've been quite the scene with me explaining that I wasn't carrying a unassembled bomb but 30 vibrator sex toys as they demanded to open my bag in front of everybody. Hope the security at the airport has lightened up this year since I may snag the left overs again this year!
Only if you know an industry insider, who can get you into the private parties.
