...where I went to learn Chinese when I joined the army in 1965.

Some of you guys and girls have pretty imaginative usernames and I'm just curious how you came by them. Is there a funny story behind them or do they offer some clue as to the real you?
My name came by way of family . I guess I was always grumping about this or that so you could say I brought it on myself. The upside is some providers I have seen have made it their personal mission to disprove the grumpy portion of my name and to their credit I have been known to smile and even become downright jovial in their company. Lets hear your story

There was a Cooper's hawk nesting in a tree next door and I was getting a lot of photos of the parents and the fledglings. and the 80 was my age. Not very imaginative but works for me.

I am from the South, a Gentleman, born in 1959 and graduated college in 1983.  Simple and it also works.

Mine relates to the profession that I retired from: Electronic Technician.

A predilection, plus my age when I became a TER member.

Former escort Bev Fisher and I went to visit one gal together and then she blogged about it saying that Mr. and Ms. Fisher had dropped by.

I turned to Bev and said:  "Looks like I just got my handle."  I was just about to join TER and was thinking about what handle I should use.

I started on TER after having been on an agency's board for about a year. I used the same handle for both. Once I decided to write reviews I wanted to change my TER handle. I contacted admin about it. They instructed me to send them three choices , they would select from those three. xyz23 was my 3rd choice.

I was trying to stick with a z theme. I like the simple strong sound of that letter.

Was listening to the song Let It Ride when thinking of a name ( always liked the sound of the motorcycle being revved up in the background) & added the 00 from the  American roulette wheel since I was  in Vegas. Oh yes, I will officially be in the 60 & over next year (2016). Letitride00.

one of my favorite games..you have to have a 10/10 to qualify..

the fact that I was a longtime competitive swimmer.  The trekr comes from my being a big fan of Star Trek, and I added the r to make it sound more like a name, didn't want to spell out swimtrekker, so I abbreviated.

LLAP,
Swim

The keys my fingers happened to hit when I signed up for my free TER trial.. nothing much to do with anything in my personal life

If we describe too much of our handle, we may give ourselves away.  Not likely, just be careful. My "handle" was pretty easy as I was "grayhair" when I was in my late thirties.  Now I should change it to whitehair.  Just glad I still have it (hair that is; although I like to think I still have it otherwise as well:.

I even have it tattoo'd on my back in Japanese...It's just the way I look at life.
But the handle I really like is "fuckyoupayme"....handle's been around forever but it hasn't been used in awhile.

I started out under another username that some putz severely misinterpreted, and he started giving me crap about it on the boards.  So it was time to change.  About this time "Austin Powers:  Goldmember" came out, and since I was no spring chicken, Oldmember was born..

longtime nickname plus my birth--day, not birth year!!! LOL

From my very first date when he said he was going to kick start my business by writing a review for me. A week later my phone was ringing off the hook and the guys were saying I just read an unbelievable review about you. I asked them which website to go to so I could read it too. He called me hot, he called me a cougar, and he called me a milf. There ya go. That 1 hour date turned into 4 hours of pure bliss!

Tore my knee up. It made me realize I was spending too much effort and time chasing an unrealistic dream. Put all that effort into hitting the books. Got my undergrad and MBA. Life has worked out very well.

That doesn't pop if Googled...  brings up every real estate ad on 7 continents.

Not long after I had an unforgettable session with a K-girl whose working name was Pink I bought a classic old wood runabout boat and decided to name the boat in her honor.  Many of my friends inquired about the origin of the unusual name of my boat and to some of my male friends I told the true story of my fabulous experience with the K-girl Pink...but when asked I n mixed company, I felt the real explanation of my boats name was a bit inappropriate so I told those friends that when I was driving my boat I felt "in the pink" referencing that old colloquialism of being 'in good health and spirit'...but in my heart of hearts I was most definitely thinking about how wonderful it was being " inthepink " ( that sweet spot we all love  sooo much ) of Pink the K-girl ;-) I joined TER about the same time and that handle just seemed like a natural for me

What username can be more anonymous than "John Doe"? Unfortunately, that was taken, so I further anonymized it by using a vaguely French homonym. The pun, of course, is that a hobbyist is a john with dough.

I stuck all those other letters and numbers on it to throw them off track.

Hmmm,
After reading this, all  Uncle Leo has to do now is check every Guy named Dan who screwed Megan Erotic and you are busted. Of course it may take him a few decades of active research and sting ops. You are lucky you don't come from Dipstick, Delaware.
OK, so I didn't have anything enlightening to contribute to this thread. 8o)

Not as many think from a rock song, but from the novel by Raphael Sabatini.  I've always been a reader and a romantic
