There are many places to live in the metro Orlando area. I work there and live just outside. I think you can find a place that suits you fine.

When I first was looking to move down to Florida 5 years ago, - I wanted to live in Orlando since every visit I had in civvie life was wonderful but the locals insisted I would hate it in months.
HMMM ok, so I spent a month in my car spending a few days at all the top cities, in the nicest hotels, enjoying all the highlights of each place.
I still loved the happy vibe of Orlando but fell in love with Tampa because of the city feel with games, beaches, etc.
I also really loved Naples but I was convinced I was too young to live there but the beaches & water are divine.
I have since visited with a client that his condo in Naples that had a view that I seriously believe will be mine when I retire. So beautiful...
Jax, Ocala, Gainsville are all nice but not for me.
Miami and South Florida TO ME have a party feel and I am boring lol- the club life and the Atlantic Ocean are just not on my wish list.
So not knowing anything I thought LAKELAND!!!!! only because it seemed to make sense on the map for areas I wanted to work- everybody assured me not stay out of that area.
I made my mind up and moved to Tampa- I loved it but then left for a couple of years to live in the dreaded Lakeland lol- but last October moved back to Tampa.
I love Tampa BUT almost all my Dominatrix playtime activities go on in Orlando and I feel I would have a better quality of life not driving to Orlando as much as I do.
I would be better off to drive to the beach the rare occasion I have time to go and be at home more.
I will be finally making the move to where I should have just moved to start with - Orlando -- once summer is over.

I am just curious for those of you who are familiar with the different cities, what do you see as the major differences- good or bad-- civvie life or hobby?
I'm sure it has been asked before but what is your favorite Florida area/activity?

I live reside in Miami, but roam around Florida, including the major cities you've mentioned.

Since most of my life demands me to mostly BE in  South Florida, I don't have the leisure of traveling as often as I would like. *tear*

Do you travel all over South Florida and is it better than staying put in one city? As far as in the business of course

I usually would travel to different areas for extended dates only (2 hours– overnight) depending on how long I have to travel, as I don't have the time to "tour" and stay in places for a few days, I prefer more intimate encounters. Maybe than can be something you can try to advertise.

  Hope that somehow helped!

 Xoxo

Too many people, too much traffic in metropolitan Orlando.  Provincial Tampa is just more laid back.

If you like peaceful and beautiful then consider Naples

Brenda Tampa seems like the place to be 3 counties to service close to you. Can always plan a few days or a week at a time do not have to deal with the traffic all the time and you can take care of specialty service to Orlando make a certain week you visit Orlando every month see you reg and still enjoy the beaches and your reg client in Tampa Bay area

Bradenton and Sarasota (a 1 hr. drive from downtown Tampa or less from Brandon).

When I think of Orlando I think of standing in long lines at theme parks and crowds of people so thick you can hardly find a parking spot at Denny's for breakfast on a Sunday morning.  My idea of hell in other words. Also too far from the beach and a good bit hotter than Tampa.

I have also lived in Jacksonville and Miami for about a year in each city. Don't have fond memories of either one except that I have to admit that Miami had wonderful winter weather so I can see the attraction if that's what you are looking for. Still not my kind of city though. Was just rated the worse city in America to live in on some website.

Jacksonville is much more of a deep south town than other Florida cities. Might be a good place to live if you are a Baptist that goes to church every Sunday but I doubt you are into that.

I'll stick with Tampa (actually Pinellas county though I used to live in Tampa)

Beaches, concert venues, sports, fine dining, casual dining, theater, events, Tampa has it all yet still maintains a somewhat small town feel to it. Just my opinion of course!

I agree...... Very true........
