a comfort level request - nothing is 100% sure in any endeavor, particularly this hobby.  Providing a photo id is just something many ladies prefer as a means to increasing their comfort level with the potential client... NOTHING really protects them from LE (or totally insane client for that matter).  Just honor their request and be done with it...

I don't understand why providers ask for a photo ID. I understand that they need to avoid LE. and I understand the logic behind those who want to call up your office to verify etc. But some of them just want a photo ID like a drivers license or some want a residential registered phone number. How does that reassure them that a client is not LE? When I've asked, they have said "we just want to know that you are who you say you are". But I don't get how that protects them from LE.

this is a common fallacy or misconception that cops/LE don't have access to make up fake ID's and so they must show their real driver's license.

The same line of thinking is when a girl asks a guy if he's a cop, once again the popular misconception is that if he lies and is LE, that is entrapment.

Another popular misconception is that cops/LE can't get naked. wrong
Depending on the city and state, cops can get naked with a girl and then bust her.

Then again, I'm sure all of this has been posted a lot on the Legal Corner forum.

I can't do it. I like the hobby, but for me, anonymity is the absolute key to it all. This world must stay separate than my other world. The risk of abuse of personal information is not worth it to me. For that reason I have no access to many providers, and I have accepted that. I would think many hobbyists are like me, and their reluctance to reveal identities would significantly reduce providers businesses. But perhaps I am wrong and most guys don't mind giving up their info. What's the concensus out there?

then he left the envelope discreetly on the table, then they got totally nude and gave each other massages, then he asked to eat her pussy, she agreed, then they arrested her.  This was outcall to a private home in a nice neighborhood btw.

They have the means to print off fake pay stubs and have a fake call center to serve as their "office".  And why wouldn't they show their photo ID?  It's not like it says Detective John Doe from Miami Vice Squad.

The queestion is how many police departments are going to go through that much trouble to sting one indie provider. My guess is "not many".

When most police departments aim to clean up prostitution, they are talking about streetwalkers who are perceived as a public nuisance. Or those who abuse children.

The risk of an LE sting for a careful independent provider is minimal. It doesn't mean she should be careless. But if a few steps increase her comfort levels, I'll be accomodating short of a few types of personal info.

These assholes are so lonely that they want some fun with beautiful women so they join the vice squad and go after providers because it's safer than getting shot by the crazy meth dealers and crackheads who run rampant here.

Orange County goes after indie providers in their own homes.  I certainly hope it's rare but they do exist.

OTOH, Indie hobbying is 100% legal in Rhode Island.

Hopefully I'll move to a more hobby friendly area soon and it would be great if the rates are more affordable too.  The south is supposed to be great...or Canada and Mexico.

It's not for protection from LE.

Let's say you turn out to be a 'bad man' and the provider doesn't come home.  She has left your information somewhere where a friend or family member can retrieve it.  Your photo ID helps to confirm that the information she's saved is correct.  That information will (hopefully) provide a good lead for LE to catch you.

(The information is destroyed/deleted after your appointment.  She doesn't want it laying around in case she gets busted, since it (or your testimony) could be used against her if she's busted)

In view of your question and response to my answer above, I have posted a question to the community on the general discussion board.  Hopefully you will get more feedback on this from both client and provider perspective.
